GOAN GIRL DEFAMED POLICE LOOK FOR GUJARATI CULPRIT

PANJIM: Police are now looking out for a Sanguem-based girl who is allegedly being defamed by Gujarati boy through social networking websites like Facebook and Youtube. Bailancho Ekvott’s Auda Viegas earlier this week had complained about the defamatory post on the social networking website by one Bhavesh Mote.
The girl in her twenties was extensively defamed by Mote, who claimed to be her estranged boyfriend. He has posted her pictures in front of various hotels, where he claimed to have stayed with her. Both – the girl and Mote – met each other at Bangalore where the girl was studying.
Viegas said “someone had forwarded her the clip based on which she informed the police.” Accordingly, a formal complaint was filed with Superintendent of Police Allan D’Sa.
Police have now launched search for the girl. Sub divisional Police officer (Quepem) Mahesh Gaonkar will be forwarded the complaint, who will investigate into the offence.
Initially, police had said that they would track down the offender and book him. But the officers at Margao district headquarters are currently busy with the One Day International match between India and Australia, the complaint was left in the files.(HD)
