PANJIM: Senior officers from the Nagaland police are expected to arrive in the state on Wednesday to continue their investigations into the human trafficking case involving girls from Nagaland and Mizoram. Six girls from Nagaland and five from Mizoram were rescued by the Goa Police last week when they raided the Lotus beauty parlour at Porvorim. The owner of the parlour Laxmi Mishra, along with four traffickers, were subsequently arrested for forcing the girls into flesh trade.
During their time in Goa, Nagaland police will explore details of the case with the Goa police and also take statement from the girls.
The Goa police have continued with its investigations in the case. On Tuesday, police personnel searched the parlour, besides the residence of the owner to sniff out more clues in the case that has now attracted national attention.
Tuesday's search comes close on the heels of reports that the Nagaland State Commission for Women ( NGSCW) has sought a detailed report from their Goan counterparts.
"Nagaland State Commission for Women wants a complete report on the case. They have already initiated an enquiry into the case and are now awaiting for more details from the Goa State Commission for Women. They want to know how and why the girls were detained," said a source.
It may be recalled that the accused, including the owner of the parlour and six others were arrested in a raid on the parlour at Porvorim. The rescued victims are now in a protective home.(TNN)
There is doubt Laxmi Mishra is the sole owner of the Parlour. There must be some big shot that own these parlours and protected by well known persons. These Nagaland police officers are wasting their time as they will live Goa non wiser . Our corrupt officials are well equipped in cover ups
ReplyDeleteNagaland cops will come to Goa to probe traffiking. Our higher ups, especially the Home Minister, should take the advantage of their presence and conduct some training sessions for our Goa Police.
