PANJIM: Adv. Aires Rodrigues has today stated that the complaints filed by him against Bombay High Court Registrar Ms. I.K. Jain for abusing her authority and against District Judge Ms. Nutan Sardesai of judicial impropriety had been filed solely in Public Interest.
Adv. Rodrigues has stated that these issues, like the misdeeds of Advocate General Mr. Subodh Kantak and former High Court Public Prosecutor Mrs. Winnie Coutinho were highlighted by him only after a thorough study and obtaining documentary evidence under the Right to Information Act.
Adv. Rodrigues has reiterated that as a citizen and more so as a lawyer he would never be a mere spectator to any misdeeds even in the judiciary.
Adv. Rodrigues has stated that in the last over 30 years of fighting against injustice, nobody could intimidate him and that he would never be cowed down by any threats or consequences that he may have to suffer for speaking out fearlessly.
Adv. Rodrigues has further stated that there was a mistaken misconception that the wrongdoings by judicial officers should not be exposed and could be pushed under the carpet.
We are in a democracy and nobody is above the law, asserted Adv. Rodrigues while commending the efforts of the Union Law Minister and the Chief Justice of India to weed out the black sheep in the judiciary.
