VASCO: Has the state government failed to provide basic infrastructure to industries or have industries failed to created employment opportunities for local people? These issues were debated by Chief Minister Digamber Kamat, Power Minister Alexio Sequiera and office bearers of Verna Industries Association at the annual general body meeting of VIA at Hotel La Paz Garden, Vasco, on Saturday.
Kamat and Sequeira claimed that industries in the State had failed to gain the confidence of local people due to lack of employment opportunities.
Sequeira said he was instrumental in setting up the Verna Industrial Estate considering that it would create employment for locals in his Loutolim constituency.
He, however, regretted that the VIE, which is one of the largest industrial estate in the State, had failed to create employment for locals.
"When people from my constituency don't get an employment, why do we require industries? For me, my voters are important and I will go with them," said Sequeira, while responding to demands by VIA President Cyril Pereira on the need to improve basic needs of industries at VIE.
"We can understand when the local population cannot be absorbed in skilled and technical jobs, but even unskilled jobs are denied to locals," complained Sequeira.
Clarifying that he was not opposed to the migrant workforce, the minister however insisted that industries should give preference to locals. Sequeira went on the offensive and accused the VIE of polluting the famous Kesarval Spring, polluting the environment and accused the workers of spoiling the hygiene and social fabric of surrounding areas. Commenting on the infrastructure at VIA, Sequeira said: "As far as VIA's demand for an underground power line and enhanced water supply, my department has worked out an estimate for underground cabling. If the GIDC is willing finance the project, the work will be executed shortly."
In his address, Kamat also claimed that there is a general feeling among people from Goa and elsewhere that the government should not set up industrial estates when industries don't create employment for locals.
"Locals feel that even though they get a job they are being been paid peanuts and are sometimes sacked from service as per whims and fancies of companies, thereby creating insecurity among the local people," said the chief minister.
Both Kamat and Sequiera felt there should be better coordination among the government departments and industries, which would immensely benefit society. Earlier, VIA president Cyril Pereira urged the government to be attentive to the development of industries (HD)
These are the same ministers that not only failed the Goans but betrayed them. Certainly he is not opposed to the migrant work force as it is the ministers vote banks. What is he harping about Kesarval Springs now, where was he when the destruction was going on? The romantic beauty spot that was also a picnic spot has now been turned into a hell hole. His migrant workforce use the place as a toilet and wash their Ar--s there the place stinks of human sh-t. What can the government do to restore Goa to its former glory? Can they tackle the crime sphere or are they shielding criminals including drug peddlers? They have failed the Goans by large. Its time Goa needs a change soon.
ReplyDeleteHow many Jobs has Sequeira given to the locals? and if given how much money did he take from them? How many lakhs has he taken from the aspiring candidates.
ReplyDeleteThe way this rogue Aleixo Sequeira is pretending!
This Sequeira is a big crocodile who becomes very active just before the elections. After being elected, he sleeps for 4 years. The last year of his term, he wakes from a deep slumber. During the 4 years, he remains busy with his gambling activities. He is good in shouting at people and arrogant to his electorate. He was instrumental in setting up Verna Industrial Estate to fatten his own pocket and dump that money in the casino machines. His clarification on the migrant workforce, yes, he loves them and does not hesitate to do all illegalities for the sake of votes. This is one chap worst than many politicians of Goa who keep fooling people time after time. It is high time his electorate dump him like he dumps them umpteen times.
ReplyDeleteKick their ass in next election! All these are bullshit and CM is cow shit
ReplyDeleteDo not talk about this great gambler of Goa. This is the greatest poisonous MLA of the Goa Cabinet of Robbers. You are a big CHOR Aleixo cause you have fooled the people of your constituency like your partner Mauvinho Gadda-in-out.
ReplyDeleteThis Sequeira is right on top of the ladder of the Chors. Now, just to hide his sins, he is talking the other way around. Has he helped any goan get a decent job? And like Shyam says, if he has helped, how much money has he made out of the innocent victims. And even after getting the job, what level have they reached??? The migrants are right on top but Goans are still Clerks, thanks to the efforts of this Sequeira. Their mouth's will never shut until they are six feet deep and the mouth is full of mud.
ReplyDeleteDalia has spoken the truth both Alexio Sequeira and Mauvin Godinho are resposnible for hoisting the Verna Industrial Estate over huge tracts of land and were poised to grab more lands for SEZs which we Goans have opposed. These corrupt politicians priced these lands while selling them to Business establishments and in turn got huge sums for allocating these lands.
ReplyDeleteAlexio Sequeira and Mauvin Godinho are corrupt to the core.
Alexio Sequeira was responsible for pushing these SEZ and Industrial Estates for his personal gains and acquiring all this land in Verna, Loutolim, Raia and other villages of hsi Constituency. Now he wakes up from his deep slumber to make it seem that he is a saviour.
