CANACONA: Shortly before laying Jackson Coutinho to his final rest, thousands gathered at Ordhofond, the little village of Canacona deep into the woods to bid Adieu to the departed soul. Tears were flowing uncontrollably from the eyes of father, mother, sisters and other relations including friends and sympathizers of the Jackson’s family.

Thousands thronged the little place in the midst of the bushes with a tiny road that leads to his house to pay their last respect to the departed youth including many members of Niz Goenkar. Many could not control their emotion as they wept profusely beside the coffin and at grave of the young youth from the village. His demise came just at a time when his future was just blooming. His parents, sisters and brother in law and other relations were sobbing loudly.
Jacksons body was brought from Dubai last night and preserved at the Margao Morgue before being taken to his ancestral house before ceremonial burial. He was dressed in a white golden suit draped in a white coffin. Outside the house, the band played melody as a tradition for the young bachelor. As the coffin left the house, the burst of fire crackers overtook the sound of the flowing river over the rocks that lasted until the Chapel of O.L. Fatima and unto cemetery beside the chapel into thick woods.
A Eucharistic High Mass was celebrated by six Priests at the Chapel with a short homily paid by Fr. Conceisao. Thereafter, his body was laid to rest as people paid their last Adieu and left.
Rest in peace dear brother!
ReplyDeleteSomeone has to die, so that others learn a lesson.
ReplyDeleteRemember Jackson, and learn not to fall prey to diseases, and frauds.
We will remember you dear brother, may your soul RIP.
ReplyDeleteI was present for the funeral, it was something for us to remember and learn that though small we are on Earth, great are our souls loved by so many after death.
ReplyDeleteMay his soul Rest In Peace.
Meeting gives us a pleasure but partings a sorrow. This earthly life is just as meaningless as an empty vessel. The Lord gives and the Lord takes. Our life is his gift for us. As far as my knowledge is concerned, for us the Catholics death is the greatest victory on this earth over all that is evil. Our real life begins after we shed off this mortal body and our Soul goes to meet our Creator. To each one according to his deeds says the Lord. We must live a good moral and honest life on this earth so that we would be happy in the next. The sunsets on earth but rises in heaven as it did for Jackson. Like wise all of us must live an honest and good life here on earth, without prejudice, without evil thoughts. We must do good here to reap our reward in Heaven. No other reward can excel except the reward of getting a place in HEAVEN with the Good Lord Almighty who suffered on this earth during his reincarnation giving us a passage to heaven. I pray to the same Almighty Jesus to take the soul of Jackson into his paradise in heaven. Amen - Menino de Valpoi
