MAPUCA: A tourist from Pune who went for a banana boat ride with his friends got drowned on the Baga beach today.  The deceased identified as Sachin Joshi, 22, from Pune; states a press release issued by the lifeguard agency. Joshi was part of a group of tourists who experienced a banana boat ride, where the boat was flipped into the water around 30 metres away from the sea-shore. Lifeguards said, the boat crew and tourists struggled to walk back to shore due to rough sea conditions.
The tourists had experienced a banana boat ride, where the boat was flipped into the water - around 30 metres away from the seashore. While the boat crew and most of the group struggled to walk back to shore due to the rough sea, four tourists are stranded at a neck-deep water level.
Lifeguards on jet skis approached four drowning tourists from Pune, flinging rescue tubes towards them for their safety. Three of them were picked up by jet ski operators, and have been brought back to the beach safely. However, one tourist has disappeared from sight. It is likely that he lost grip of his rescue tube and has disappeared under the waves.
A jet ski borne lifeguard picked up the fourth tourist and dragged him to a safer zone in the sea, where another lifeguard also reaching up to the spot swimming on a rescue board. The tourist was placed on the rescue board, where the lifeguard administered quick CPR and rushed him towards the beach. Compressions began immediately along with oxygen and automated external defibrillator (AED), while CPRs continued to be given. The lifeguard tower had already called for an ambulance, which has arrived.
The tourist from Pune was handed over to the ambulance. However, when life-guards checked his vitals, it was found that his pulse was weak and breathing was absent.  The tourist has been declared dead by the 108 paramedic outside the primary health centre, which was found closed (DG)

  1. Before I read this news article I was given to understand Goa still had a heavy down pour of rain. Given the nature the sea would have been rough, so why were these banana boats operating in these conditions. Just over year ago a newly married couple died in similar condition. What are the health and safety guidelines for these operators during rough sea conditions. A life has been lost due to these irresponsible operators. May the soul rest in peace. Will a lesson be learnt, what action will the government take to ensure these incidents do not repeat itself?

  2. Diogo... What action will the Government take? The operators of these boats will give a handsome hafta to the concerned Minister. After pocketing, the money the Minister will look the other way while the banana boats will keep on operating. That's the normal game going on now and it will keep on going until these corrupt chors are shown the door.
