MARGAO: Cuncolim has a total of 46 candidates contesting the ensuing polls for the 10-member Cuncolim Municipal Council. Interestingly the contestants are either swearing their loyalty to local MLA and Urban Development Minister, Joaquim Alemao or are rest assured of his support for their candidatures.
This was clearly evident in Ward no 2 when banners of rival candidates Pratima Gaonkar and Mangaldas Gaonkar were seen together with the photograph of the Urban Development Minister.
Incidentally, the Urban Development Minister has decided to play cool and not to intervene in the game of one-upmanship over the game of banners or with candidates declaring publicly over enjoying support to their candidature.
It is learnt that most of the candidates – barring his vocal enemies – have sought Alemao’s blessing before filing their nomination papers. And, the rush to the Varca residence of the Cuncolim MLA by the candidates along with their supporters has not stopped as yet, sources said.
When contacted, the Urban Development Minister said that there is no opposition for him in Cuncolim. “This only shows that the majority of the contestants are my supporters. I did not discourage any of them from contesting since they had their ambition to enter electoral politics”, he said, adding “there may be 46 candidates in the fray, but you will see all the 10 Councilors belonging to me after the polls”.
Though Alemao says that most of the contestants are his supporters, it is learnt that the MLA certainly has his blue eyed boys in the fray and is expected to make his support known to his supporters only on the eve of the Civic polls. (HD)

The mathematics or logic of this Loyality is simple.These canditates have been bought by another Alemao Thief.
Soon after their election...the bitching & infighting will begin.Swords will be crossed and the "blue eyed boys" will be turned to "red eye fools" .
Blind loyalty is not loyalty but hired loyalty. They and their family can only eat fire and go to grave with curses.
ReplyDeleteWhat a dumb loyalty. Politics is like prostitution where the vamp is the politician and loyalty pledgers are customers. This family of Alemao's are out to ruin and destroy Goa and these dumb idiots are pledging loyalty to the rogue? Unbelievable and so embarrassing.
