DySP DEU BENAULIKAR TO INVESTIGATE MBBS PAPER LEAKAGE CASE

PANJIM: The case of the question paper leak of third year MBBS general medicine paper I and paper II, has been handed over by the Agasaim police to the north Goa deputy superintendent of police for investigation to look into the charges of alleged corruption in the case.
Police sources informed, "Charges of corruption have to be investigated by an officer of the rank of Dy SP as per rules. Therefore, the case was handed over to Dy SP Deu Benaulikar because in the FIR the complainant has alleged that the paper was leaked by the culprits for monetary benefits. Investigation in the case is now being overseen by him."
Confirming this development, Vishwesh Karpe, Agasaim police inspector, said, "The case was handed over to the Dy SP the very next day after it was registered."
Meanwhile, the ten day period set by the Goa University, for the three-member committee formed by the varsity to investigate the case of paper leak and submit the report to GU officials, expired on Saturday. But the report by the committee was not yet submitted to GU officials on Saturday evening. Those in the know, however, informed that the report is set to be submitted on Monday evening to the varsity.
Sources informed that statements of several students from the affected batch were recorded by the three-member GU committee during their course of investigation.
Agasaim police had registered a case against unknown persons under Goa Prevention of Malpractice at University, Board and other Specified Examination Act, 1991, for leaking the question papers of third-year MBBS examinations for general medicine papers I and II on January 7. A citizen Kashinath Shetye had written to the Agasaim police asking them to register an FIR in the case alleging that the papers were leaked for monetary benefits by those involved. (TNN)

  1. Dy SP Deu Banaulikar and not Benaulikar as per his name on the roll of the police. This chap is simple, 1.5 tons in weight due to a lot of "paper weight" in his pockets. Nice chap though. Will he find out anything due to his slow motion?
