KEEP POLITICIANS AWAY FROM SPORTS by Adv. Aires Rodrigues, Ribandar

There should be a total ban on politicians holding posts in sports organisations. Having corroded the political sphere they drag in the same rot into the sports arena. We have been seeing sports organisations going down the tube due to such bad influence.
In a way the politicians cannot be blamed for always wagging their tails. The dog's tail can never be straightened, so goes the saying. Let the sports field be managed by sportsmen and sportswomen. We have so many of them and they will do us proud.

  1. Aires, I agree with you. Most of the sports associations are run by the politicians and their chamchas. Some of them are presidents for decades now. Take the case of Goa Cricket Association and Goa Football Association. The same faces are there. There is no accountability and transparency.
The Sports ministry too has a huge budget for developing sports. Where this money goes? If at all Goa has excelled in football, it is only due to the passion of Goans to play that game. Individual talents are far and few.
There is no proper sports policy in Goa. There is only one policy and that is to loot Goa.

  2. There is an International Code that says Sports, Religion and Politics should never mix each other. After the last world cup Nigeria and France were warned by FIFA when the governments got involved. Like Aires says Dogs tail can never be straightened. Then again it is the Politicians' stooges that invite them as chief guests.

  3. Pick up any daily news paper and find how many politicians are busy inaugurating functions or bridges or laying foundations. Today's trend is the TIATRS where politicians make appearances as Cheap Guests. I do believe they do not come by themselves but are invited by the chamchas or the crumb eaters.

Now Chorchill, thou bedridden will make his way up to Dubai to be the Cheap Guest on the 22nd of this month. No matter, even on a wheel chair, he will make it so the chamchas in Dubai will be happy. Some chamchas are greater than their political masters.

  4. This is the same case like our tiatrists. I read in the Herald last month Chorchill and Mickey Mouse were the chief guests for one comedian's tiatr. The same comedian was here two weeks ago to act in a musical show and blasted both these chors left and right. That is our Goa. Sports, Entertainment, Religion and Politics go hand in hand.
