MARGAO: A Maharashtra registration car found abandoned on the NH-17 at Nuvem gave some anxious moments to the men-in-uniform after a gun and a danda was found inside the vehicle. The police heaved a sigh of relief only after the weapon turned out be a toy gun, but the owner of the vehicle told the cops that the vehicle was parked at the spot following a breakdown.
Responding to a call that a vehicle with a gun is lying alongside the National highway near Carmel College, a police team headed by a police inspector, two police sub-inspectors and a DySP rushed to Nuvem this morning and launched a probe.
After inspection of the vehicle, the gun turned out be a toy weapon, but the police called up the owner of the vehicle suspecting that the toy gun and the danda might have been used or intended to be used in a criminal activity.
However, after a detailed inquiry, the police found that the vehicle was being driven by a resident of Mapusa, who had parked it along side the highway after it broke down two days ago.
Maina Curtorim PI Sidhant Shirodkar ruled out any foul play in the entire episode, adding that the vehicle was handed over to the owner after an inquiry. “The police are satisfied that the presence of the toy gun inside the vehicle was not intended for any criminal activity. After inquiry, the vehicle was released to the owner”, PI Shirodkar added. (HD)
It will not surprise anyone that the Goa Cops are very good and expreienced at discovering Toy Guns, but cannot find the real ones.
ReplyDeleteIt seems like the cops know that criminals/ terrorists do not conceal such weapons. The instead parade them openly.
