PANJIM: The private bus owners have called off their bus strike on November 22, following the intervention of the Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat on Sunday morning.
Speaking to reporters, the general secretary of the All Goa Bus Owners Association, Mr Sudip Tamankar said they decided to put the strike on hold following assurance from the Chief Minister to address their problems and grievances, and has called a joint meeting between the Margao bus operators, the South Goa deputy collector and the assistant director of transport, Mr A Bhosle.
He said that the Chief Minister also assured them to hold a joint meeting with the Transport Minister, Mr Ramkrishna Dhavlikar, transport director, Mr Arun Dessai, KTC managing director, Mr V Furtado and transport secretary, to discuss the pending issues concerning the bus owners.
Mr Tamankar said all the outstanding issues will be discussed at the meetings, as promised; however, if the issues are not solved, the association will hold a meeting next week to decide the future course of action. (NT)
