ONE ARRESTED FOR RAPING A WOMAN AT MAINA

MARGAO: The Maina-Curtorim police on Wednesday, arrested Dilip Goswami, a resident of Dicarpale, for allegedly confining a 52-year-old woman from Quepem in a room and then raping her.  The police said that according to the victim, she was sexually abused for two nights. She is a grand mother and has a family at Quepem.
Maina-Curtorim police said that based on the complaint filed by the woman, who is a maid, they have registered the offence under section 342 and 376 of IPC and has sent both victim as well as the alleged accused for medical examination.
According to Maina-Curtorim police, the alleged accused inserted an advertisement in Marathi paper advertising for a maid to work in his house at Dicarpale, and based on the advertisement, the women contacted the alleged accused on the phone on November 13, as a candidate.
Police said that Dilip came to her residence at Quepem and discussed the terms of her employment. He informed her that since his wife has gone to her native place for the delivery of a child, he needed someone to tend to the household chores.
According to the complainant, Dilip on the night of November 13, showed some pornographic films to the victim and allegedly raped her. Police said that on November 14, the alleged accused again raped her. However, on November 15, she told him that she wishes to go to Quepem to see her grandchildren and so managed to get away form the accused.
On Wednesday morning, she along with her family members went to the Quepem police station and narrated the entire incident to the police. Quepem police informed her that since the crime reportedly took place within the jurisdiction of the Maina-Curtorim police station, she should register her complaint there. On Wednesday evening, the women went to the Maina-Curtorim police station and lodged the complaint, which was registered. PSI, Mr Paresh Naik is investigating the case. (NT)

  6. What is more frustating is I fail to understand the system. A female victim of rape , a capital serious crime, goes to a police station that is convinient to her , is sent away and told to go to the police station a little distance away as the crime did not take place in their area of responcibility.
One can imagine how traumatised this lady , who is some ones wife , mother and grand mother must have been after all she went through. What if she was incapable or refused to go to the next police station? Would have this bloody ,filthy piece of humanity go scott free? In such serious criminal cases was it not at least the social duty of the Quepem police to refer or accompany the lady the same morning to the Curtorim police station? And I hope the women NGO's in Goa fight with double zeal and strenght to bring this pevert to justice. She was a poor woman who went to serve this pevert monster for the sake of honest earnings.
