Our freedom fighters have woken up from slumber after 50 years to suggest change of names of places. They are not bothered about people’s progress as long as they receive pension and get job reservations for their wards.
Chaos, frustration and injustice is rampant. Is this the kind of freedom we fought for? People, therefore, are left with no choice but to compare the old colonial regime with the elected one.
The late Dr Jack de Sequeira was repeatedly pleading with the electorate to give his party just one chance in order to streamline the administration and root out corruption. But our elected ‘Babus’ destroyed all the good work of the previous administration by borrowing acts and legislation from other states. People’s progress is reflected in the local government’s inability to provide a simple job to the children of the soil to live a decent and affordable life.
This are no Freedom fighters. They were moles in the Portuguese administration acting to benefit the Indian Government at the time. Some of them were rapists and murderers languishing behind bars who were released and bestowed an order of Freedom fighters by the subsequent government.
ReplyDeleteWe should start referring to these elements as FREEDOM FARTERS as offensive as it may sound !!!
ReplyDeleteJonas, I totally agree with you. You should enlighten the people of Aldona not to vote for Dayanand Narvekar. He was the first one in the modern history of Goa who started the corrupt process of jobs for bribes. That time, he used to charge 10,000 rs, now he must be charging lakhs.
ReplyDeleteBebdo, you may be right in your opinion; but the people of Aldona did throw out Dayanand Narvenkar. He was defeated by Chopdekar with the support of Commmunidade movement. Then again they voted Fatima D'Sa who was dancing to Dr. Willy tunes.
ReplyDeleteIt was unfortunate the last two were the most in effective to do any improvement in the Constituency. Now the people of Aldona are waiting for the prophet to come and deliver them.
