LADAINH AND TULSICHEM LOGN RITES WERE PERFORMED AT THE GRANDY ISLAND

VASCO: The traditional LADAINH and TULSICHEM LOGN  were performed by the members of Hindu and Christian fishermen community from Baina with a great pomp and gaiety at Grandy Island on Thursday.
Hundreds of people were seen sailing with the decorated canoes to the island from Baina seashore since early Thursday morning.  This year, due to the restrictions put by the Indian Navy, the people were bit disturbed.
However, despite of the restrictions, the fishermen community landed on the Grandy Island and performed the traditional rituals peacefully.  The Grandy Island and the Bat Island which are located off Baina seashore are in the news due to the acquisition planned by the Indian Navy in view of the security concerns.
Although LADAINH & TULSICHEM LOGN were started jointly by the Hindu and Christian community members residing at Baina, the Muslim and other community people also participate in the celebrations.
The Flag Officer Commanding Goa Naval Area, Rear Admiral Sudhir Pillai at INS Hansa said that although the Indian Navy has taken a step for the acquisition of the island, it is with the security aspect in view.
The Rear Admiral informed that the Navy will not stop the people and the locals (including fishermen) from visiting the Grandy Island.  He has appealed to the people not to feel insulted whenever Navy personnel check them during their visit to the Grandy Island. (NT)

  1. Like I said Sudir Pillai is a liar, he will not allow the Goans to use the islands for their worship or anything. Wait and see. Sudhir Pillai has plans to make it an enjoyment place for the Navy. What security is the navy fighting and who needs the navy in Goa? These are pillai's plans but Goans make sure that it is opposed every way even if we have to lay down our lives for it.

  2. @ Sandesh Gaonkar; you are absolutely correct, the sooner the army and navy leaves Goan Land the better it will be for all. Our Dabolim airport which is occupied can be fully fledged civilian airport.

  3. This Pillai is a Keralite. At the time of the "liberation" of Goa, the defence minister was also a Keralite called Krishna Menon. Nehru as they say didn't order Krishna Menon to march Indian forces into Goa. The troops were assembled along the border to threaten Portuguese Goan administrators. Nehru was also frightened of Nato's reaction as Portugal is a Nato member country. In fact on the eve of the "liberation" of Goa, John F. Kennedy called Nehru to stop any expansionist plans and not to march Indian troops into Goa.
When Nehru conveyed Kennedy's message to Krishna Menon, this Keralite told Nehru that the troops were already in Goa and nothing can be done about it. As soon as he finished his conversation with Nehru, Krishna Menon ordered the Indian forces to enter Goa. The task was given to another Keralite called General Candith.
It is through lies and deception that the Indian forces took Goa.
Now it is through lies and deception, the Indian Navy wants to claim islands of Goa.
Wake up Goans, wake Goans. You have been sleeping for too long.

  4. These Pillais and Billais find Goa as a Gold mine. They take Goans for granted. And as for Gaons we are busy fighting amonging ourself for petty things. Wake up Goans! Wake up for once. Get united. If push come to shove we have to defend. Long live Goa!
