MADEL RESIDENTS PROMISED HOT MIXED ROADS BY PWD MINISTER

MARGAO: Residents of Madel in ward 8 can look forward to hotmixing of all dilapidated roads across the ward before Christmas. The low-lying area hit by overflowing soakpits and septic may also be finally connected to the sewerage project by April next.
PWD Minister Churchill Alemao along with GPCC general secretary Vijay SarDesai and councilor-elect of Ward 8 Gonzaco Rebello visited Madel on Wednesday night and assured to take up the road works on a war footing.  In fact, the Alemao-SarDesai duo promised to commence the road hotmixing work within five days at a public meeting, which was attended by PWD officials attached to roads, water supply and sewerage corporation.
In his typical Janata Darbar fashion, the PWD Minister introduced the whole team of PWD officials to the people before promising to complete the hotmixing works before Christmas.
He called upon people to co-operate during laying of water pipelines and warned that habitual antagonists would have to face police action if they unnecessarily impeded the dept’s resolve to supply water to all. He also said that he would whole heartedly co-operate with Vijai Sardesai and his panel to redress the grievances of the people of Fatorda and this work was likely to ensure Sardesai’s election to the assembly in 2 years.
Sardesai, in his address, appealed to the people to leave aside past differences and unite to ensure that progress reaches the neglected portion of Fatorda.
Reaching out to his local political opponents, Sardesai said he harboured no ill feeling towards anybody and was willing to accept constructive opposition if not for co-operation from his detractors. He also said that the victory of his panel in the Civic polls was only a semi final and stressed on the need to remain alert and proactive to win the final battle next year.
Local resident, Adv Mike Mehta complimented Sardesai and Alemao for coming back to the voters as promised and said that solution of all the woes of the residents would guarantee the Congress Party all support in the coming Assembly polls. (HD)
