THE NEW MOI DECISION IS GOING TO COST GOVT 20 CRORES: CONTRARY TO CMs SAY

PANJIM: The state government's decision to allocate grants to English medium primary schools with Konkani or Marathi as a compulsory subject from Class I to X is likely to cost the state at least 20 crores, sources in the government pointed out.  This is contrary to chief minister Digambar Kamat's declaration on Wednesday that there will be no financial implication for the state due to the policy change.
Kamat has maintained that existing teachers in Marathi and Konkani schools can be utilized to teach English in case they opt for the change in medium of instruction. He said primary teachers are qualified enough to teach in English. But sources in the education department said appointment of English teachers is unavoidable. "When Marigold English language textbook was asked to be taught compulsorily from Class I to IV, teachers, mostly in Marathi medium primary schools, had protested. Most of these teachers have done their schooling in Marathi and acquired diplomas in education in Marathi," the source said.
In 2007-08, the state appointed para-teachers, most of whom are graduates with English medium schooling,in such Marathi medium schools to teach English as one subject.   "The state cannot implement the shift to English medium by falling back on these para-teachers as they are employed on contract-basis. They are also quick to leave on finding a better job as they are paid only 100 per day ," the source informed.
He added that as diplomas in education are not available in Konkani in Goa, Konkani primary schools have either employed teachers with diploma sin Marathi or English.  "Konkani schools employing teachers with qualifications in Marathi medium will also have to employ English teachers, if they switch to English medium. As state grants are provided for teacher salaries, the shift in medium will at least cost 20 crore," the source said. - TNN

Atleast if they plough back the stolen looted wealth may be God may grant them some form of salvation.

Why pay for langiages that are forced upon Goans? English and Konkani in Roman is the only languages of interest to Goans.

20 crores should be  nothing. Mr Digu should go in for an ordinance act & implement Loot tax.Small % will generate huge income.
why he is so concerned about the teachers who are from Marathi background. He can also look at employing these teachers for his election campaign. Lok Pal bill is on the way. the common man should combine rights under RTI & Lok Pal to get these uncivilized &  un educated idiots from the system itself. Request all to vote for a change but never Congress , BJP, MGP & breakaway groups who might be waiting to get mileage .

Vote for a glorious golden Goa.

All 40 born bas..rd robe Goa everyday by way of percentage from every contract and sub-standard work done and that mounts in millions, what this father of Ghantis from margao talking about is not his families fortune after all it is our taxpayers money and not to forget what crores he is talking about is to spend on our children and that is the constitutional right.

Stop giving grants to stupid ghanti Marathi language from other state, why do we encourage Marathi when our mother tongue is konkani. People of Goa should think ten times during election time to knock of Marathi from Goan soil. Goa can save in crores if Govr. stops grants to Ghanti language of Marathi.

It is better to give this Rs 20 crore for the education of our children of the future, than have it stolen by the 40 Goa Legslature MLA`s.
This Rs 20 Crore investment will reap rich rewards.
the money stolen by the Goan MLA`s are salted away in foreign Banks & crooked investments in Goa and India.
Most of this stolen money cannot be "fully"  enjoyed by them,as it could reveal a lot more about their sources.
Hope in due course all the MLA`s that have indulged in mis-appropriation and fraud will be put on trial.

  8. Hi Anand

We should have an opinion poll as to which language we want and in which script. This will solve the problem once and for all. Will also shut the mouth of outsiders.

Yes & very true. moreover 20 crore if we consider as investment for the education of our children of the future is very less.
and as Pedro said we should have an opinion poll as to which language we want and in which
script.  All across Maharashtra they have English as MOI, Kerela much better , they have Arabic thaught in schools which is helpful definitely,  Tamil Nadu is best, Hindi is banned.... . The latest is Mr. Pariyakar of BJP has called in for a bandh across Goa to protest against the inclusion of English as MOI. this is the right time this Idiot should also realise that Goa is not part of India. in fact we were Invaded &  languages like Marathi cannot be forced on to us, this was already decided in the opinion poll when we Voted not to be part of Maharashtra. Read some articles today that Churchill is taking the credit for bringing in English as MOI, now as PWD minister he should oppose this bandh openly. Also I would like to bring to the notice of all concerned that there is one Mr.Pandu Modkaikar from Cumbarjua who is of the opinion that people from his constituency never came to him to demand English as MOI, what this Idiot thinks , is he an education minister ? this Idiot I have heard have duped his own sister N transferred her properties in his Name. His roots are BJP.  Nirmala is as bad as this Guy, both are business partners.

    Viva Niz Goenkar

  14. You are right, invaders have no right to impose their language on us nor on our children. We have to fight for independence, this is the only solution, Then we can decide what is good for us and our future. As long as these pimps in MGP and BJP have invader Indian backing, they are going to make a lot of noise. I can smell independence if not tomorow, then surely in days to come. It will be great if independence could come on the 19th of DECEMBER 2011.
