The mining leases of Massordem were operational during the Portuguese regime mainly manually. As per the information given by residents of Massordem the excavated ore of iron and manganese was lying there. "As the ore is now in great demand, steps are taken to transport it without required permission. Presently, the site has heaps of manganese ore.
