EMOTION CHOKED GOAN COMMUNITY AT SWINDON COURT WITH THE WEEPING FAMILY OF RAIMUNDO

SWINDON: Edino Carvalho who has been charged with murder of Raimundo Pereira a loving father of a five year old Samuel Pereira and the beloved husband of Maria Susan Rodrigues in the town centre is set to appear in court again tomorrow.
A weeping family outside Swindon Court
The accused, 23, of Plymouth Street, has been charged with killing 40-year-old Raimundo Pereira, known to his family as Raymond, in Manchester Road on 20/05/2011 at about 9:30 PM.
He was produced in the Swindon Magistrates’ Court yesterday and spoke only to confirm his name, as Mr Pereira’s wife Maria Fernandes and other close family watched in silence.
The accused, showing no emotion at all, and was wearing a grey and navy hooded top.
The villagers of Raimundo, numbering about 40 to 50 members from Goan community packed the public gallery. They were holding placards with “We want justice”. Emotions were running high outside the court among the Goans gathered. They loathed the accused who seemed untouched by the sight of the weeping family members of Raimundo.
Goans from Goa Velha and other places showing solidarity outside court
Carvalho, who has yet to enter a plea, was arrested on Friday night along with a 22-year-old man. The younger man was bailed by police pending further inquiries.
Mr Pereira’s body was found by police at about 9.30pm on Friday. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem examination later revealed he had been stabbed to death with multiple stab wounds.
Once source on condition of anonymity said that the family of Raimundo has been totally devastated and still in shock. One person also said it will take a very very long time to come to terms with the tragedy.
"I have lost a person who was very precious to me, my love, my life," his wife Maria said. "I pray that such tragedy should not be experienced by any family ever again." She further said.
A relative of the deceased, who asked not to be identified said “We just want justice – his wife and his son are suffering needlessly. It’s impacted on us big time.
“When we first got the message we never expected it to be one of our guys.
“He was very friendly and cheerful and he would always help people out. His wife has only been here a couple of months and it is a huge shock.
“We are waiting to get his body released and then we will have the funeral in Goa, in India. At the moment it is a living nightmare.”
Many of those from Broadgreen gathered on the courthouse steps after the short hearing and held placards, which read ‘We want peace in the community’ and ‘The soul of Raymond cries for justice’.
Raimundo’s best friend and his schoolmate, John Fernandes, of Armstrong Streed who was also present there said that the whole Goan Community is shaken badly by the incident . “Everyone is very upset about this,” he said. “It is very shocking. Raymond was an old school mate and my best friend.
“This was just to say we want justice for Raymond and we just want to live in peace and harmony.”
The scene was one that could melt any hard hearted human being to tears, but the accused Carvalho, showed no such emotion or remorse of his act.
Carvalho was remanded in custody and is set to appear at Bristol Crown Court at 10am tomorrow.

From what I understand of the system,, Edino is currently held in Police Custody ( Police lock-up at a Police Station.)
Tomorrow 25th May 2011, he will have to make a plea, of Guilty or not guilty. His Lawyer, who will be supplied by the State and paid for by the State under the Legal Aid scheme, will also ask for Bail.
However considering the serious nature of this case, I doubt Edino Carvalho will get bail.
He will therefore be remanded to Judicial lock-up (PRISON).This remand in prison could also be in his interest & safety,as , if he is seen on the streets he could be lynched & given street justice.
He will have his first  taste of a UK prison.Though they are comparatively better than Goa Prisons, they never the less have a similar culture. The food and entertainment might be better, but the culture of prisons is the same.
The long term prisoners &Lifers will certainly rough him up & sex him up.He will be beaten till he is black and blue, glassed, punched etc.He will be treated as a 2nd class prisoner.
If he still has any cockiness or arrogance or cold bloodness left, this will be cured in the prison.
No doubt, he wil be crying for his Maternal mother and his presumed adopted mother Victoria Fernandes, MLA of Santa Cruz. His GAngmaster Rudolf Fernandes must have already disowned him and deserted him.

There is a TV programme currently being aired on UK TV called STRANGEWAYS.This is a real life documentary filimed in a prison by the name Strangeways.
I can assure those that have not seen this series, or those that do not have the opportunity to see it, being abroad, life in the prison is no picnic. It is a horrendous& shocking place.
Suicide is very common and so is self mutilation. The noise & smell can be overpowering. The food is very basic.Violence is extreme.
Considering the crime Edino committed, he will not be spared by other prisoners as there was a child left fatherless.
All in all he deserves all this.

I would like to thank each and every Goan and others that have commented on various articles on this tragic issue.
It is due to caring and decent people like you, that the Goan Newspapers today have highlited the issue of this crime and the issue of the Police Clearance Certificate.
Most Newspapers except the Navhind times have carried this story.Lets hope the Navhind Times does some catching up, as this sort of incident could happen to the Editor and his Staff too.It is not an incidentexclusive to the Uk
The opinion of each and every contributor here on Niz Goenkar. has definetely made an impact on the Goan Newspapers.
This tragic issue has touched the hearts of many Goans all over the world.
The PCC & Goa Police are the next targets.

I can imagine how Goans around  Swindon are feeling, Specially those hailing from Goa Velha.  Although I am not from that part of Goa I have been receiving calls from all over the world, Goans expressing their disgust at this incident. Dim wit Goans will never see another prosper. An investigation in Goa must be carried out as to how this criminal got his PCC clearance. Any of his and any other such Gang Members must be exposed specially those that have had a criminal history in Goa and are cleared by the Goan Police. Also which influential politician had a hand too. As a result of this Raimundo lost his life and a woman lost her husband and a five year old will never grow up knowing his father. I pray God look after them both and also pray the child does not grow up with a vengeance in mind. The remorseless killer will get what he deserves and more to come when in Jail, where he will curse the day he was born. This is Not Goa.

  4. What can one accept from a moron like Carvalho. Have a quick glance on his face, he looks like a walking dead .The court should alllow him to rot in the jail for the rest of his life.

Shame on Parents of this remorseless killer for raising him with such cruel behaviour and being both them are working and living with this cruel man is unimaginable. A person may be bad back home but migrating to civilised country and still living in such evil den does not deserve any sympathy nor forgiveness. All blame lies on parents for him to grew up as murderer.

  8. I know this is a horrendous crime and justice should be done.Lets not forget this 2 guys are Portuguese nationals , holding foreign passports of Goan origin. When you desert your country of origin please expect these things to happen. The UK  is is violent country, drugs , sex , booze is part of their culture, i use to live in the Uk for 30 years and left in disgust.everyone has a choice , they made the options of where to live....................

There are two sides to life in every country, Bad and Good. It is up to the individual families which route they would like to adopt, the good or the bad one. Let us not judge that all Goans are going to bring their children to be criminals. I doubt Goans have come in UK to leave by the sword.
Goans by large a very responsible community who are placid, loving and compassionate.
These two criminals may have Portuguese passports but their criminal life started in Goa when they were Indian Citizerns, and imported that criminal life into UK. They had a chance to turn their lives around to be respectable people but they chose not to.
Sex,Drugs and booze are freely available in Goa too and are cheaper,  mainly dealt by persons in authority and their families.
I wouldn't class UK as a violent country but there are opportunistic criminals majority of them being immigrants from third world countries. Just as in Goa there are opportunistic criminals mainly Non-Goans followed by Vicious gangs adopted by politicians.

If this man showed no emotion or regret, than there's quite a chance that he's an uncertified socio- or psychopath. Failing that, he's on drugs and therefore is oblivious to all and sundry around him.

Idiot both don't hold foreign passport, we all Goans are Portuguese citizens. Unless you idiot think our country of origin is Invader India. Idiot think before you write.
This murder is a black day in Goan history. As N. Fernandes-London rightly quoted, Edino will pray that he never was born. If God will not get him, the British prison will.

  13. Were you kicked out of the  UK after 30 years because you were an illegal immigrant? Did you go there as an Indian citizen, if so how ? Were you a diplomat? Were you an industrialist welcomed by the British because you invested a million? I am just curious because I too want to go to the UK for 30 years and I need advice. Thanks!

  14.  Goan community choked with emotion? Why? I can understand if the family, friends or co workers were emotional...but the whole Goan community ? This is akin to some of those vain American talk shows where everyone in the silly audience   is   ready to cry. Goenkars of London... swidon.... wherever ...you  cut a sorry image !

    Hi Francis:
I think you are take a very dim and narrow minded view of life in the UK.
There about several thousand Goans that live in the UK.So who is crazy...you or these several thousand Goans that are still here.
Sex, drugs & booze and crime exists in each and every country on Mother Earth.
Can you , in you wisdom point out to me,where on earth there is no crime and the other vices.?
You certainly cannot be living up the Himalayas as a hermit or recluse!
If you have left the UK and gone back to Goa, that I am sure you have not gone to Paradise.
Goa is also now full of all that you have described, and getting worse.
Worse than what you describe about the Uk ,is that the Law Makers and Upholders of Law in Goa are all criminals.
I personally think that you are the victim or your own failures, that you now choose to blame everything else for your misery.
Anyway I wish you much happiness & all the peace in your new abode. And if you wish, tell us where it is so we can all escape and join your UTOPIA and world of perfection .

I think you are a little unfair.
This incident has been felt by the Goan Community all over the world.
This incident must have touched a part of you, whether emotionally or not , that you have actually taken some time to comment.
Goans are very sentimental and emotional people.Perhaps you have not had an experience of this.
You must understand ,this killing / murder has left a 5 year old boy fatherless.if you cannot feel or begin to understand the plight of this little kid, than I suspect you are a cold hearted person.
This incident is no American Chat show / talk show. This is real.

Try opposing them and you lose your life, that is the came gang member from Goa murdered a Kind Loving husband and a child is left fatherless.

    Hi Mathew:
I would advise against Raimondo`s wife taking any money from Edino, whats so ever.
    It is blood money.
I personally doubt if this murderer has any or much  Money.
I guess like the Ministers & MLA`s in Goa , he earns or has earned money through criminal activity.
If he has any money, he should gift wrap it and send it to his Godmother Victoraia Fernandes (Mummy), MLA of Santa Cruz or his Godfather Babush Monseratte, MLA of TALEIGAO.
Edinos money should remain in the "Kingdom" of evil doers.

It is more than likely or more than probable that something will happen , either to Rudolf Fernandes or Babush Monseratte & his sons.
As for Babush Monseratte, his 2 sons are breeds of a criminal.
Rohit MOnseratte is highly unlikely to develop into a decent Goan Citizen. His brother is highly unlikely to follow in the footsteps like his father ,mother & brother.
These days Dictators,Tyrants and autocrats and just plain Political RATS,are one by one are being apprehended by law enforcement agents and being put to trial.

Rather than contacting the doctor to check his mental state, he should ask his mother who his real father is. What is interesting about this Character calling himself Upyaars, is that he comments under various disguises and uses his stooges located in Vasco /Murmagoa.He is also known to use stooges in Singapore & the USA
He also tends to re-comment 1 month after the topic has been dead, forgotten & buried.
He also did tis on another Topic about MOI & Fr.Athaide Mousinho.
His notable & disguised  name then, was Maria Edniita. The name Maria Ednita is more commonly used in Angola & Brazil rather than Goa.
It is quite obvious , that he is restless and cannot sleep. So he comes to Niz Goenkar to seek attention, like an unloved child.
Alternatively he must be suffering from amnesia or dementia.
I also hope his Father, dead or alive, will supply  Niz Goenkar with a "Spellchecker " program.
This will eliminate his strange obsession with other peoples spelling & grammatic mistakes.
as I said earlier, he forgets his own spelling & grammatic errors due toprofound & incurable amnesia.
Maybe the extreme Heat in Dubai has overcooked his brains. It is all a "mash" now
