CABINET DECIDES TO GIVE GRANTS TO ENGLISH MEDIUM SCHOOLS

PANJIM: In a major decision, Goa Cabinet today decided to give grants to English primary schools. Konkani or Marathi subjects to be compulsory till Std X. The decision comes at the backdrop of fears raised by section of parents and academicians who had said that providing grants to English primary schools would spell doom on the Konkani and Marathi primary schools.
The state government on Wednesday held cabinet meeting to discuss the crucial issue, which is the part of implementation of Right to Education (RTE).
Chief Minister Digambar Kamat announcing the decision to provide grants to English schools said that `even poor parents from the villages would now be given an opportunity to teach their child in English medium.’
He said that the government will give permission for the aided primary schools to open classes in English medium provided they have minimum required number of students in their school.
Kamat said that parents will also have to give in writing that they want to change the Medium to English.  The Chief Minister said that those schools which are adopting English as MOI, shall have Konkani or Marathi as a compulsory subject till Secondary School Certificate Examination.
The unaided English schools will also enjoy the grants from the state government provided they have proper infrastructure in place and they have vernacular language compulsory till Secondary School Certificate examination, Kamat said adding that  The state government has formed a monitoring committee headed by Education Secretary V P Rao, which will ensure that the schools adhere to the norms laid down while giving the grants.

Parents have earned the rights to educate their children in
the language they see fit. Mahariti is not a Goan Language therefore only
English and Konkani in Roman script should be taught in Goa.
If it is a victory it is   well earned by the parents.

The Goan parents have fought and won this battle but now all the credit will be taken by the rogue politicians and our Goans will swallow their lies hook, line and sinker and elect the same corrupt Congress again at the next elections, Goans how naive can we be ?

Churchill will be the first to claim is was all due to him, and not the Parents.
