PANJIM: Faced with a major embarrassment, Goa police had to raid the shops in the coastal belt which were selling tenant forms and stranger enrolment forms by charging the people. It has been learnt that Superintendent of Police (North) Arvind Gawas ordered the coastal belt police stations to crack down on these vendors after he received complaints.
These forms are available at the police station free of cost while the vendors were selling these forms. It has also been learnt that a photo studio in Calangute was amongst the vendors who were raided today. Gawas today asked the coastal belt police stations not to accept the forms which are purchased from private vendors.
When contacted, Gawas said that people should collect these forms from respective police stations as they will be having serial numbers on it. “We are modifying the police forms. We will accept forms which are distributed from the police stations only. The fresh look will have serial numbers. Every single record will be maintained with respective police stations,” he said.(HD)
