SAN JOSE DE AREAL REVOKES NOC GRANTED TO A CRUSHER

MARGAO: The San Jose de Areal gram sabha on Sunday, passed a resolution to revoke the NOC granted to a crusher within the panchayat area.  The gram sabha, presided over by the deputy sarpanch, Mr Vincy Mascarenhas, in the absence of the sarpanch, Ms Liberatta Travasso, told the presiding officer that the issue of the crusher NOC was in court and so the court should decide on the same, and the present NOC issued should be revoked.
Initially the gram sabha that started late due to lack of quorum began with the issue of the fudging or the presence of white ink of the minutes of the previous meeting.  A resolution was adopted to write a letter to the BDO asking how the panchayat secretary could white ink certain sections while recording minutes.
The present secretary however told the gram sabha that he was not aware of the issue, as these were allegedly done by another secretary.  The gram sabha also resolved that the panchayat revoke the license granted to a fibre glass unit. The local ward panch was quite adamant that he does not want the unit in his ward.
The gram sabha also wanted to know how many resolutions taken by the gram sabha have been forwarded to the concerned authorities and followed up.  On the issue about why this August gram sabha was held in November, the panchayat body apologised for the same.  The gram sabha was finally adjourned and rescheduled to be completed in December. Very good step taken by the gram sabha of San Jose de Areal. Like wise the council of Valpoi do with the miners of their taluka and stop the destruction caused by the mines and the mining in Goa. Good work people of San Jose de Areal.
