PANJIM POLICE PRESSURISING VICTIM OF HIT-AND-RUN TO WITHDRAW CASE

PANJIM: Panjim police are allegedly trying to hush up a hit-and-run case involving a car, which belongs to a senior police officer.  Sources said that a white Maruti Swift dashed against Sainath who was on his Hero Honda motorbike near Goa Science Centre on Wednesday.
“He was immediately rushed to the Goa Medical College, Bambolim in an unconscious state. A complaint was later filed but the police are pressurising Sainath to withdraw the complaint,” said a source. When contacted the Deputy Superintendent of Police Deu Benaulikar said that a case of ‘accident’ is registered pending investigation.
“We are investigating the case and as soon as we find out the actual offence, we will register a cognizable offence,” he said.
The officer was however not able to name the driver of the car. “We are yet to record the statement of the victim who can tell us the number of the car and other details,” he said. (HD)

  3. Is this a hit and run case? Why do they require the car number from an unconscious victim when there must be some vitness to the accident. Who took the poor fellow to the hospital?
