APATHY OF THE STATE GOVERNMENT:: PAINS OF A FAMILY IN DIVAR

OLD GOA: While they continue to grieve over the loss of their loved one in the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai, a family from Divar now expresses pain for another reason — apathy of the State government.
Chef Urban do Rego, father of Boris, a young and promising chef who was shot dead by terrorists at the Taj Hotel in Mumbai on November 26, 2008, is upset with the State government for failing to do anything for his family.
“Well, I don’t know what to say. Unless and until a person experiences a similar tragedy, only then will he be aware of the hardships I have been going through,” Urban Rego said over the phone.
“Two years have passed since the incident, but the State government has not been able to provide any help to my family.” “My family and I know what pain we have gone thorough since we lost Boris in the Mumbai terror attacks. I had appealed for a government job to my daughter, who is an accounts graduate, but that too has not materialised so far,” said Urban.
“The State government had initially agreed to give a job for my daughter, but later denied doing so,” he added. Incidentally, the Rego family has received support from other governments. “We received about Rs 3 lakh from the Central Government about two months ago,” said Urban.
“Even the Maharashtra Government has sent us an appreciation letter of courage for my son. I have also received a call from Taj Hotel in Mumbai informing me about a prayer meet in the hotel in memory of the Taj attack victims, but I have not heard anything from my State government,” lamented Urban.
He said the family still struggles to cope with the loss of Borris. “Till date, my wife is still in a shock. It is very difficult for us to explain our feelings and what pain we have been going through. Since the time I have lost my son, all of us miss him each and every moment,” said Urban. (HD)

    Shame on the Goa Government.SHAME,SHAME,SHAME
This 26/11 terrorist attack was a national tragedy and also sent shockwaves throught the Civilised world.
This was the life of a Young Goan boy that was taken away in a dastardly attack.
This whole attack in Mumbai has become a historical event. It is now in the annals of history.Boris will forever be part of that Sad History
Yet the Goa Government is fast asleep in its duty to one of its citizens.
It is more interested in" opening" ceremonies rather than "closing" down the hardship and pain felt by this Rego family.
Shame on Mr D. Kamat and the Home Minister Ravi for their lack of judgement and concern for a Goan Citizen that was gunned down without any mercy.
Perhaps Kamat & Naik will understand, when tragedy visits their doorstep and family of such significance, oneday.

  2. These murders were a thoughtless acts of a handful of fanatic cowards. Two years to the day and the families of the victims are still going through painful emotional disturbances, anxiety and depression.

Government of India is still bickering over with our fanatic neighbor about the promises that were never kept instead of assisting the families of the innocent victims who died due to the political sins of the famous band of arse holes ruling from the Centre and the State.

  3. Shame on the entire government system in Goa, Then again will they care? the destruction, looting, raping and drug dealing in Goa is more important, without these they are paupers. This young man died as a result of the flaw in the security of India. These mindless fanatics (terrorists) are the lowest scum of the earth and are a disgrace to their own religion. In this mindless attack many died including a son of Goa Boris. It is not easy for any family to forget any death, specially the tragic one. But our Goan governments have stooped so low as to forget, such pain and suffering do exists. The Rego family is not looking for hand outs but seeking employment for their child. What or how much hafta will it take to see her employed?

  4. @Johnads, welcome back brother, welcoming you for the second time. You are our prodigal brother ont he blog. Suddenly, you run high temper and run away. Your views and comments are valuable and appreciate your concern for good causes until you go astray. Do not leave in the same manner again, we need people to change Goa, to make a point. Every single comment makes a impression on atleast two people. As per my experience, we have been able to practically change minds of many for the betterment of Goa.

There are no words to describe the apathy of the present government. Goa is presently ruled by a corporation of Chors.

  5. The local MLA of Divar which is a part of the Cumbarjua constituency is Pandurang Gonvddo Madkaikar. He should have taken an initiative to help this family. But he won't. That is because he is corrupt and sells jobs to the highest bidders. When he was the minister, he took 20 lakhs and above to appoint RTOs.
Madkaikar is also involved in Vaxim project. People of Cumbarjua constituency should kick this looter of Goa out in the next election.
Madkaikar has no loyalty to anyone. He was with the MGP, then BJP and now with Congress.
He only knows to fill his pockets.

  6. The quantum of pain and sorrow this family has undergone cannot be measured in a very simple way. It does feel complicated by the way they have suffered such a tragic death of their beloved son. I know no amount of money can buy their grieves. However, as promised the Goa Government should have at least considered their plea on humanitarian grounds by employing their only daughter, who may be the only bread earner for the family. Job denied to them is only for their own selfish gains. Promises are never kept for a common man. The Goa Government will never be able to comprehend the true feelings of this bereaved family. The chors in the Goa Government do not have a family and they do not know the family values. Their families are scattered away and busy enjoying the ill-gotten wealth collected by their fathers and spouses.

  8. Mr. Urban was my classmate and also my football team mate. He is the Chef with Taj and has travelled the world and had high aspirations for his son, Boris. Now that Boris is no more, at least the Goa government should have had the courtesey of giving a job. She is highly qualified and not seeking employment as an illierate like the ghanttis. Like Marcel says, the favours, if any, will come during the time of elections.
