PANJIM POLICE MANHANDLE NHDAC MEMBERS

PANJIM: Members of the National Highway Diversion Action Committee (NHDAC) alleged manhandling by Panjim police on Monday, after ten of their members marching amongst others towards the International film festival of India (Iffi) venue were stopped near the Panaji collectorate and taken to the police station.
"They physically lifted and took us to the police station at around 11.15am. This amounts to arrest. We were kept there for two hours, after which we were simply told there is no need for bail and we can leave. The electronic media has filmed this. We were manhandled even though there was no confrontation from our end," NHDAC convener Sunil Desai said.
Former Cortalim MLA Matanhy Saldanha, former GBA convener Oscar Rebello, Patricia Pinto, Ritu Prasad, Zarina D'Cunha, Ashok Prabhu and Dinesh Waghela were amongst the ten NHDAC members taken to the police station. tnn
Around 25 members of the National Highway Diversion Action Committee were marching towards the International film festival of India (Iffi) venue on Monday to hold a peaceful demonstration to oppose the invocation of Section 3D of the Central Land Acquisition Act for widening of NH4A, but were stopped and allegedly manhandled by the police.
The house committee's decision to allow issue of Section 3D is significant because November 29 was the deadline for issuing section 3D failing which the land acquisition procedure for the highway widening would lapse. With the issue of Section 3D, the intention of the government to acquire land notified under Section 3A, gets converted to a declaration that the land is required by the government.
Police officials denying charges of manhandling said the protestors were stopped near the collectorate office fearing that they might disrupt Iffi festivities. "After holding discussions, they were asked to shift opposite Dempo House. There was no arrest," police officials said.
"We only wanted to bring the issue to the notice of the international delegates who are part of the film festival. We made it clear from the start that we did not mean to disrupt the Iffi celebrations and see this as no reason to be held at the police station for nearly two hours," Desai said. Desai said that senior citizens were among those 'manhandled' by the police.
Opposition leader Manohar Parrikar, sub-divisional magistrate Sabhaji Shetye and DySP Deu Banaulikar, held discussions with NHDAC members at Panjim police station. The protestors were later allowed to hold a demonstration opposite Dempo House, around 100 meters away from the main Iffi venue. (TNN)

These are just allegations as usual. In a mass arrest during strikes, or detention during rallies the police are always blamed one way or the other.

My Dear Gua Pulis Constable. The photographs that appeared on the front page of NHDAC convenor Sunil Desai being lifted by Dy. S.P. Serafin Dias, and at the side one woman constable grappling with a woman activist; was that 'Photoshop' images?

  4. I know about this Police Constable. Some time back he had come attacking me on the forum for criticising the Gua Pulis. He must be one of those licking and polishing his superiors' boots. So he has to say something to support and allevate them or he will get a whack on his bum. As far as I am concerned he deserves one whack on his mouth.

  5. With the proof that Anonymous the VIII and SPY 13 has given, does this Police Constable has any further comments or answers??? This Police Constable is not a real Police Constable, but a Police Constipation like many others like him that exists in our Gua Pulis Constipation Force. When they get orders from our corrupt chors they just constipate. Has anyone noticed, except for their front and a "latti" in their hands, the backside of their pants??? They are sucked right deep into their a..se and it is not the tailor's fault, mind you. It is the constipation effect.

Yes I am the same Police Constable who was here earlier and am here today again. I may be a constable but I am educated and a BCom graduate, and have made a proper use of my education. I have not gone out begging for bribes or at bus stands asking for money. Concerning the detaining system I have to defend our department. I agree that corruption is running at a high intensity in our department but during mass detentions, mass arrests like I said here and there accidental incidents do occur. I am sure the Niz Goenkar Editor Mr. Menino whom I know very well and he too knows me, will be able to cast a better light on this subject. He has worked in the department and was educated one like me. He knows about strikes or morchas and what happens during the orders to mass arrest. Do not play your own tunes all the time. There is a difference between reality and allegations. @dlp how much do you know about the police department? the proof you are talking about sometimes it is not as it appears to the viewers eyes. I know now you people will start attacking me.

  7. The Police in Goa have lost all credibility - we can't blame them they are there to do just the Goa Government's biddings like vicious hyenas taht are set to attack the innocent. They are hand in glove with our politicians backing to attack the innocent Goans and stop the people from expressing their views. Goa has become worse than a dictatorial regime today - we've seen how the police are being used time and against the teachers earlier this year, against our village groups and now innocent and respectable Goans who are stnading up to voice their protests against the National Highway. Police force is used by our politicians to promote illegal mining, attack ansd slam all sorts of false cases against poor illiterate villagers who stnad up to oppose their lands from being stolen from them. The truth is out in the open. Most of these police personnel have got their jobs either with the blessings of the politicians or after bribing their way in. Only a handful are sincere and honest. The others are just trash who are there only to promote crime and be part of it! It's dusgusting how they are used by our politicians to carry out their depraved and horrible agendas.

Shame on our Goa Government! Shame on the Goa Police!

  8. Police Constable - Under Democracy everyone has right to protest peacefully. What the Panjim Police did is not a right thing, they purely acted as the puppets of Drug mafia family Ravi Naik and cowmuth Digambar.Yes, I agree with you that during mass arrest there is always chaos but will you agree with me that it happens since our cops are not trained & disciplined well?
You may be honest cop who is not accepting bribes but taking bribes during recruitments start from the time of Bhau Bandodkar.First they were accepting only for direct recruits PSI's then after the last Pratapsingh Rane's Government(after chorchill entry in our Legislative Assembly) the policy of taking bribes during recruitment start for all levels of Posts. If you are recruit during Rane's time or before then I consider you a real cop otherwise a criminal in cop uniform. Since paying bribes and joining department is a pure act of criminal.

  9. We know all the 10 individuals that you'll siezed and manhandled - they all our are respected Goans including a former Minister, Doctors, Architects and other professionals who are well respected and loved by Niz Goenkars!

For this Police Constable to say that this was an "accidental incident" is false as obviously they were there to silence the voice of Goans as they have constantley been doing at the behest of our Goa Government.

  10. A Police Constable in Goa Police… Thanks for your explanatory explanation of the comments you posted on the above issue. I appreciate your truthfulness in your dealings. Please keep it up and may God bless and protect you in your best endeavours. However, the news with photograph published in the above link site is indeed to be noted with interest and speaks everything about it. Is it publicity stunt that the Police Constable catches the NGO with a smile on his face while other constables just watching in amazed at the incident? Is it what happens every time a culprit is manhandled? Is it to earn some happiness then I am sure there may be some changes in running the operative systems in Goa.

  11. Hello Mr. Police Constable,

I don't know who you are, but to be frank I know plenty, and I mean plenty, about the police department because I was and still am involved in it too. I know Menino very well too. He is still educated, not was. So just don't try to brag. I am not saying you are not honest. If you are honest, its fine with me. What I was talking about is the fact. The pictures say it all. And pictures don't tell lies. The way your department, maybe not you, handled the people they looked worse than animals. Nobody is attacking you as an individual, but the whole police force that were handling this so-called mass arrest.

    I agree with DLP.
This is not a comment about one good and decent Police Constable....but the whole Goa Police as a whole.
99% of Goans do not have a high regard for Goa Police. They are seen to be extremely corrupt and high handed.
Current statistics show that Goa Police have more accquitals now ...then criminal apprehensions.
Ravi Raik has just met and had a meeting with the "TOP BRASS" to discuss their failure.
This act of Ravi Naik is no more than a publicity stunt.
IN 50 years since Liberation...Goa Police have served themselves.Just look at their Bank Balances and Benami accounts.
Goa Police are the richest in the world.Ask yourself how and why?.And all this within a very short period of service in the Force.
Goa Police earn more than the Chief Minister and Prime Minister of India.Do they run a side business and what is it?

If there was an Industry called "HAFTA"...they would be the best in their class.
I am sure that the "SHAMES D`SILVAS" and "jonny boy" wll help with this.
