NCP, CONGRESS AND OPPOSITION’S REACTION TO U.S. NEWS ON PACHECO

The opposition leader of Goa, Mr. Manohar Parrikar today said he wanted to know why the United States Authority did not act when ex Tourism minister Mickky Pacheco was in that country. Though the Chief Minister of Goa Digamber Kamat had refused to comment on the reports from the US about Pacheco’s involvement into immigration racket and money laundering, said that he cannot react unless he has some information about it. He also said that he had neither seen nor heard anything on the matter.
Mr. Parrikar told the newsmen who had approached him for this comments “I do not know what the allegations are made against Pacheco. I am not aware and have not confirmed the news. But if something is there, the US authorities should have acted against Pacheco when he was in the country. Let the truth come out” he said.
The NCP leaders came out in full support for their legislator. The said that Pacheco cannot be punished until proven to be guilty. The NCP observer Prakash Bhingsale told reportes that it was just the media report that was seen by him and required to be enquired into. He also said that no action can be taken based on the media reports. When Mr. Bhingsale was briefing the reporters, the NCP president of Goa Jose Philip D’Souza, Tourism minister Nilkant Halarnkar, Trajano D’Mello, Carmo Pegado, Sangita Parab and Surendra Sirsat were present along.
On the question about the code of conduct’s requirement for the NCP politicians in the wake of this episode, Bhingsale said “every politician faces allegations. Let us wait for the investigation to complete. We will surely take action”. Mr Bhingsale asked “how do you enforce moral code of conduct? If there are allegations against me, I shall say that I am not guilty.” Mr. Bhingsale also adminted there are some differences between them and the Congress party and those issues cannot be discussed in the public. He added that a meeting of coordination will be soon held to resolve the issue.
Inspite of the differences, Mr. Bhingsale assured that his party would continue is electora alliance with Congress to avoid division of secular votes in Goa. About the step motherly treatment by the Congress, he said “such feelings do not crop up in a coalition government.” He further stated that the NCP has been keenly following the investigations into the drug nexus case and that they favour a CBI probe into the case unless the Goa Police does a good job.

  1. In a democratic world it's Innocent until proven Guilty. In our corrupt system it's Guilty if you have no money.

  3. Is that flag, a symbol of the NCP, with the clock in the middle? Looks like a time bomb. It may go off anytime and with it, the NCP

  4. This is Pandu, I guess many know me already.......you can turn me around on my head or by my alfa's and abuse my lovely Indian name, I do not care as long as I have my point on this forum. US politics is as corrupt and immoral as that of in India. Internal political issues get diverted to external economies. Parrikar's point of view is correct and none can do anything about it. Most of you here are racist Bamons who have run away with your last Portuguese remnants from Goa to distant land and are barking like DOGS. If any of you are that clever and smart in what you say and do than I suggestion would be, to kindly invite all your aunts, uncles, cousins, kings and those that have been missed out and are often online here and, form a party to throw the present so called corrupt goan political administration. If you like it or not Goans, were born to be ruled by other only because they change thier point of views just like the Indian weather. To be precise it may be like the Giraffe forgetting it's next move due to the shortage of blood flow to the brain.

  6. I am quiet sure the US did interrogate Mr Pacheco but in the end decided to let him go, being that he was under diplomatic status being that he is an elected official in India. ...they instead chose to send the information to India. Currently, the US and India share a very good relationship because of the new US President (as seen by the first State Dinner with the Indian head of state), and because of this they chose not to get involved in the matter, but referred it to Delhi. Of course Mr Pacheco is not going to say that US customs and immigration talked to him. Mr Pacheco has spoiled the Goan name by behaving like a criminal. He's crime of solicitating a prostitute in the US was not enough? This man is a disgrace. It is also wrong of our Christians in Goa not to speak up the truth on this man. He does not represent us. Yes, they are issues with Christians not getting a fair share, as seen with government jobs, but whose fault is it, when we elect uneducated criminals who work to enrich themselves. Mr Pacheco is always with an entourage, probably drunkards who wait for him to buy a drink. The US will never trump up charges, unlike India. They go on facts, yes it is hard to believe. Yes, they are a few scandals in the US, but they are rare, but they do get a lot of publicity. However, whenever they is an implication of a scandal involving any politicians, the career of the politician is over, unlike in Goa. Mr Pacheco can be seen walking around with his hired goons claiming the US made up the charges. The US has plenty of things to do with their time to make charges against him. Only time will tell, and hopefully there is still justice in Goa-India.
