Mr Dhavlikar further said that KTC will shortly reschedule the timings of the buses to make the service more effective and passenger friendly.  He said that it has been observed that the timing of a few buses needed to be changed, hence the timings of all the routes are being studied and necessary changes will be made. The Corporation will be operating more counters for shuttle services at Margao and Panaji bus stands to ease out the long queues at both the bus stands, the KTC chairman said pointing out that one counter is not sufficient to cater to the growing needs of the public, hence the corporation has decided to set up parallel counters.
He further said that the Corporation is also in the process of holding a series of training camps for the staff to make them more efficient and passenger-friendly and that the Corporation will not tolerate any misbehavior on the part of the staff.
A driver who was caught in an intoxicated condition was handed over to the Old Goa police, while show cause notices have been served against 20 staff for not performing their duties properly, he informed.
The KTC chairman further said that the KTC has also moved a proposal before the government to install GPS with cameras in all the buses including inter-state buses so as to monitor their movement. "All the buses have to run for 8 hours a day, however, the buses are not operating, hence after the buses are connected through GPS the Corporation will be in a position to track the whereabouts of the vehicles besides keeping a check on overcrowding, etc," Mr Dhavlikar observed adding the buses will be fitted with ticket wending machines. Computerisation for online booking of tickets is also being done, he further added. (NT)

  1. Nice to see the KTC Chairman take interest in improving the Kadamba Service! The scheme of fitting GPS on Kadamba buses appears strange and the exact reasons necessitating such a move is not understood! It should not be another white elephant as the Kadamba is already incurring huge losses despite special favours and help from the public exchequer all these years!
The scheme of opening additional ticket windows in Margao and Panaji is welcome but the real reason behind the long serpentine queues in KTC Margao in the morning hours is the unavailability of adequate number of buses to meet the heavy traffic at peak hours!
The Chairman could visit the KTC Margao, in the morning peak hours, for a few days and then take suitable decisions!

  2. I hope the Chairman will train the drivers and send them for extensive training so they cn drive on Goan roads as exemplary drivers. They should also made to look smart and tidy and of course, whatever you people hook through corrupt practices should be avoided and instead look after the benefits of these poor people. The uniforms of these people must look cleaner and tidy.

  3. Constant check by the Ticket Collectors need to be done. The conductors on the panaji - verna (titan) route and panjim pernem route do not issue tickets. Instead, if the fare is Rs.5/-, they will return one rupee back and do not issue ticket.
