RTI REVEALS THAT SAG SPENT OVER 17 LAKHS ON GCA COACHES

The Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) has spent Rs 17, 69, 252/- by way of salaries to the coaches spared to the Goa Cricket Association (GCA) from 2005 to date. This clearly further contradicts the stand taken by the GCA before the Goa State Information Commission that it had never availed any assistance from SAG.
In response to information sought by Adv. Aires Rodrigues under the Right to information Act the SAG has given Adv. Rodrigues complete details of 21 coaches whose services were spared to GCA by SAG during various periods from 2005.
SAG has also informed Adv. Rodrigues that the services of the coaches were spared at the written request of the GCA.
The SAG has further informed Adv. Rodrigues that one of their coaches Mr. Anil Arolkar has been placed at the disposal of the Goa Cricket Association from June 2009 at its Cricket Academy at Porvorim. Mr. Arolkar’s monthly salary of Rs 41,406/- is being borne by the Sports Authority of Goa.
The Goa State Chief Information Commissioner Mr. Motilal Keny will on 1st October pronounce his verdict on the complaint filed by Adv. Aires Rodrigues against the Goa Cricket Association for its refusal to furnish information sought under the Right to Information Act.
After Adv. Aires Rodrigues sought information from the Goa Cricket Association on the fees paid to their lawyer Mr. Subodh Kantak, the Goa Cricket Association which is headed by Goa’s former Law Minister Mr. Dayanand Narvekar took a stand that it does not come under the purview of the RTI Act.
