CIDADE DE GOA APPROACHED BY GOVT FOR ROOMS FOR IFFI

PANJIM: Chairperson of Hotel Cidade de Goa Anju Timblo on Saturday clarified that it was the State government which approached the hotel for allotting rooms to the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), and she did not have any intention of benefiting from the event.
Timblo said that the then Chief Minister Pratapsing Rane had approached her to give whatever rooms were available in the hotel, as no other hotels were ready to provide accommodation.
“It was purely from thinking that IFFI should not go out of Goa for a silly reason of not having enough five star accommodation that we decided to allot rooms for the event, and not with any ulterior motive,” she stated, adding, “hosting an IFFI is a prestigious thing and we all should be proud of it.”
Taking a dig at her critics, Timblo said, “We have freedom of expression and anyone can say or write anything. We cannot do anything about it.” During last IFFI, she continued, organisational expenses were down from Rs 9 crore to Rs 6 crore, which was not highlighted by anyone. On the contrary, she said, people criticised unknowingly, thereby undoing such efforts. (HD)

  1. This Cidade De Goa belongs partly to our Goa's COWMUTH. This COWMUTH even over ruled the Supreme Courts judgements to make illegality in legal form. The COWMUTH is good to loot and rob and let every member of his joker cabinet loot. Goa need liberation from these CHALLIS CHORS.
