London: A London-based cyclist, who was touched by the lives of street children during a visit to India last year, will shortly embark on a bike ride to raise funds for a Goa-based charity organisation. Jack Diamond, 24, will take to the saddle for the 14-day, 340-mile trip in India for Goa-based charity Children Walking Tall.

He first came across the charity organisation when he spent six months in India, and grew close to the slum children he helped, teaching them sport and taking them to the beach to play. "It never really crossed my mind to do something like this before but it's such a good charity and I want to raise as much money as I can to make a difference," Diamond told the local media.
"We want to save the money we raise and put it away so when the children are old enough to leave the charity, they will each have a pot of money to help them," he said. During his stay in India, he was reportedly scouted in Mumbai and used as an extra in a Bollywood movie, in which he played the role of a policeman.
"It was quite weird. I think they like westerners in the films, but I was stood with one of the biggest stars in Bollywood at one point. It was totally out of the blue, but great fun." (PTI News)
Thanks to Jack Diamond to a great noble cause. But he must be aware of obstacles that might face, there are those without conscience will always want a share of what is raised.
ReplyDeletediogofichardo, you are absolutely right. After reading the news of this very noble cause by Mr. Jack Diamond, our hungry crocodiles must be waiting with their mouths wide open. They may even eat him thinking he is a real diamond. forget about conscience, they have lots of patience when it comes to grabbing money.
ReplyDeleteNiz Goenkar.... Mr. Diamond must have done a lot of research on these corrupt Goan ministers and their charities before proceeding with his noble cause. If he keeps the money safe, saliva will be dropping down from these hungry crocodiles' mouths thinking of the money raised. Even if they are on their death bed, they won't be worrying about where they are heading, but who is going to get a share of that money.
ReplyDeleteThank you to Jack, I met him when he volunteered for Children Walking Tall and I know the charity very well, they wouldn't allow the money to be wasted in such ways. They have a very good record of providing things directly to the children who need it.
