53,323 NEW NAMES IN GOA’S REVISED ELECTORAL ROLLS

Goa's revised electoral rolls have swelled to 10.42 lakh plus from the 10.19 lakh plus shown in the draft rolls published earlier.
Following complaints, including of names missing and foreigners featuring in the list, the revision exercise of the state election authority has brought in 53,323 new names into the voters list. While 30,384 names have been deleted, corrections have been made to 34,846 EPICs
Statistics obtained from the office of the chief electoral officer show that the total number of male voters is now 5,23,054, while female voters stand at 5,19,508. The rolls have gone up from 10,19,623 voters to 10,42,562 voters.
Meanwhile, the delimitation exercise has left the state with four new constituencies, while four existing constituencies have been deleted. The new constituencies for the next assembly polls are Porvorim and Sanquelim in north Goa and Dabolim and Nuvem in south Goa. Those that will cease to exist are Dhargalim and Pale in the north, and Loutolim and Poinguinim in the south.
The smallest constituency as far as number of voters is Dabolim with 20,797 names, while the largest is Canacona with 32,311 voters. Among the new constituencies: Porvorim has 21,419 voters; Sanquelim 23,250; Dabolim 20,797; and Nuvem has 27,747 voters. The process for revision of the electoral rolls began on June 14 when a draft electoral roll was published. Thereafter, around 71,566 persons applied for inclusion to the voter list.
The state electoral authority has also said that online voter registration will be available from November onwards. Its implementation would be part of a nation-wide project to network offices of the various state electoral authorities and the election commission of India officials said that a demonstration will have to be given to the ECI. "The next summary revision of the electoral roll will be sometime in November, therefore the online facility will be ready before that," an official said. (TOI)

  1. Whose names are added in the list? Are these Goans or Ghantis? I doubt there will be more than a few hundred Goans included in the new list. These are the ghantis (migrants) brought in by politicians like Digamber Kamat, Ravi Naik & Churchill Alemao.

  3. Many are still left behind for the next poll, on purpose. They are presently in the waiting and have been asked to put up shops in ministers compounds, abandoned lots, alongside railways lines, stations and so on. They are all relatives and distant cousins, on a cruise to a forseeable future destination. These immigrants will be equally distributed to places should, they have their zone support dwindling. Presently, they are sincere and patriotic patrons to the community and we got to bear with them.

  4. Niz Goenkars population in Goa is decreasing while the voters list increasing to unbelievable figure. Like Dalia says, 90 percent will be TWPs and 10 percent Goans. Out of that 10 percent, 5 percent will be corrupt politicians chamchas.
