UTAA ACTIVISTS WILL FILE COMPLAIN AGAINST DGP OF GOA

MARGAO: Taking strong exception to the statements made by the DGP Aditya Arya that he would have ordered firing had he been there at the time of the Balli incident, United tribals association alliance (UTAA) has decided to lodge a complain against the police brass with the national human rights commission, even as it demanded Arya's immediate transfer from the state.
Charging the police force with having a bias towards the tribals, UTAA president Prakash Velip likened DGP Arya to the infamous General Dyer who ordered firing on the innocents at the historic Jallianwala Baag. "We condemn the statement made by the DGP in the strongest of terms. He should be immediately shunted out of Goa. We wonder if the police are itching to fire on the tribals. It leads us to believe that the government is using the police machinery to suppress the agitation of the tribal people. It now appears that the government is trying to give a different twist to the investigations," UTAA president Prakash Velip told mediapersons on Sunday. - TNN
