FOUR THIEVES THRASHED BY LOCALS BEFORE HANDING OVER TO THE POLICE

MARGAO: Four persons were caught by the public on Wednesday noon after they tried to steal a Power Tiller from the paddy fields at Benaulim last night.  The irate mob damaged a car and a pick-up van used to lift away the power tiller and gave the accused persons a thrashing of their lives and then handed them over to the Colva police.
The theft came to light this morning when the owner Anthony Fernandes found to this surprise the power tiller missing from the fields at Mondear-Benaulim. “We immediately complained to the police and conducted a search when we were informed that the power tiller was taken to Seraulim”, he said.
While one of the accused is hailing from Colva, the remaining three were natives of Bihar, Kerala and Punjab.  Colva police have arrested the four for theft. The police are investigating whether the accused had any links in the recent spate of thefts.

  1. Well done Benaulimkars. This is the only punishment which will deter the thieves not to do it again. Most of the time the police are hand in the glove with the theives. The police benefit in two ways from this. One is that they get the share of what is robbed and the second when they are caught they will get a chance to get a photo with them and get a promotion.
