PANJIM: An accused of kidnapping attempted to end his life by slitting open his throat on Wednesday in court room after his judicial custody was extended, police said. 24-year-old Salim Sheikh attempted suicide by slitting his throat with a sharp object in Goa Children's Court when it extended his judicial remand, they said. The accused was rushed to Goa Medical College at Aambolim.
Mumbai-based Saleem is accused of kidnapping his four-year-old nephew from Mapusa town, 10 km away from here. He had asked for a ransom of Rs 50,000 from victim's grandfather, who is a rag picker in the city.
Saleem was arrested in Mumbai on September 15 and was initially remanded in police custody. The court today remanded him in 14 days judicial custody.
Public Prosecutor Poonam Bharne said that the accused was uneasy after the order and tried to cut his throat from a sharp object which appeared in his hand from nowhere.
The Judge was busy writing the final order when incident happened inside the court room. The court ordered Mapusa police, investigating the kidnapping case, to file a case of attempt to suicide against the accused, the prosecutor said. - PTI
He is a criminal who served his own justice for the crime he committed. I wish our high profile criminal did the same.
ReplyDeleteHe is a convict. He is taken from Police custody to the Court. From where did he obtain the sharp object to slit his throat? I feel this is a conspiracy between the police and the court and some pwerful politicians to help him kill himself. There must be some sinister political twist to this case and someone wants him out before the beans are exposed. This is not a simple case of kidnapping. But, hammer hammer hammer! The case is closed. Skeletons thrown in the cupboard.
