VIGILS ALONG THE KARNATAKA COASTAL AREAS INCREASED

PANJIM: The Karnataka Government has increased the vigil in their coastal areas, according to a top government official as a lesson from the Goa drugs-police-nexus.  The outcome and exposure of the Goa police drug nexus have led to this step by the Karnataka government.
Answering to the questions poised by reporters on what Karnataka plans to do after the drugs trade exposed in Goa, K Jothiramalingam, principal secretary Karnataka tourism said that more vigil would be maintained on the beaches in northern Karnataka notorious for drug abuse, especially by foreign tourists.
"At Om beach a popular beach near Karwar, we have a couple of high end properties. But at the middle and lower end, we would need to have more vigil," he said.
"There are certain actions which are covertly done, which are banned activities and it depends on the enforcement agencies to keep them in control," Jothiramalingam said.
Jothiramalingam said that a special green police force launched by the Karnataka tourism department had been entrusted with the responsibility of keeping a vigil on such nefarious activities.
"The Green police force which comprises of trained home guards has been launched to keep an eye on such activities," Jothiramalingam said. An emerging tourism destination, the Karnataka tourism department is making efforts to promote its relatively pristine beaches as a refreshing change from the 'done to death' beach tourism in Goa.(HD)

  1. Karnataka government could have asked the Navy be shifted there from Goa so that we Goans could live in peace. The Navy is the biggest looter in Goa. They loot the poor people of Goa of their lands, houses etc for their luxuries. The coast of Karnataka would be safe with these rogue navy there.

  2. Transfer our competent SP to join them on their vigil. While they are carrying out their vigil, the SP can continue with his vigil of fishing. There's plenty of big fish in Karnatak I've heard.
