SUICIDE ATTEMPT BY A 21 YEAR OLD GIRL SEEKING A LUXURIOUS LIFE

PANJIM: A 21-year-old girl attempted suicide by consuming poison after mixing it in milk on Monday night. She felt that her family members didn't give her enough attention. She was also upset with her financial status and aspired to live a luxurious life.
Linda Fernandes consumed a full tube of poison after on the night of July 4. She was admitted to Asilo hospital at Mapusa. As her condition deteriorated she was shifted to the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC). Sources said that the victim, who worked as a receptionist with a private hospital in Mapusa, was upset with life as she found that her salary was insufficient and she was not satisfied with the life she led.
"She aspired for luxury and had a feeling that her family members and friends were not giving her enough attention," said sources close to the victim. The Mapusa police requested the special judicial magistrate to record the victim's statement and the same was done on Tuesday.
In another incident, a 68-year-old man committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence in Chimbel on July 5. Old Goa police said that Shefinath Babni from Indira Nagar at Chimbel was found hanging from his ceiling in the kitchen of his residence. He was disturbed due to some family disputes, said sources.
Police said that Babni was staying with his son and daughter-in-law in a two room house, while his wife, who is mentally ill, was at their hometown. "When his daughter-in-law entered the kitchen on Wednesday she found him hanging. He was declared brought dead at the hospital," added sources.
