HOLOGRAMS ON LIQUOR BOTTLES SOON IN GOA

PANJIM: In a bid to certify the originality of liquor, the Excise Department in Goa has decided to soon introduce holograms on the liquor bottles manufactured in the state.  Such a measure is being put in place to ensure that tourists are not sold spurious or adulterated liquor in the state, Excise Commissioner P S Reddy said.
"The hologram will be a multi-coloured seal that would be tamper-proof and will be pasted on the bottle at the manufacturing facility itself," he said, adding that each kind of liquor will have a unique hologram.
"If the hologram is removed, it will be denigrated into pieces," Reddy said.  The state government, which has invited tenders for manufacturing the holograms, has sent the samples to IIT Delhi to check the quality of the labels.
Goa, which attracts around 24 lakh tourists every year, is a favourite liquor destination with the availability of inexpensive liquor across the state.
Reddy said that the state manufactures around 3 lakh boxes of liquor every month, of which, only 50 per cent is consumed locally while the rest is exported to other states. Locally, most of the liquor sale is through restaurants, he said.
After being hit by an excise scam which resulted in the loss of revenue, the state government has already introduced multi-coloured coded permits. The department has also fixed validity for the permits.  Reddy said that colour of the permit changes every month so that no one can duplicate them.  The department also produces monthly statements of import and export of liquor and they are cross-checked with the states where the consignments are sent, he added. – PTI

  1. REDDY IS A PAID DOG OF  SHIRODKAR  WHO RUNS AGENCIA REAL.  COMPARED TO SALE OF REAL WHISKEY,  THE TAX PAID BY THEM IS PEANUTS. COURTESY REDDY. THIS IS ONLY TO TARGET SOME SMALL MANUFACTURERS.  lAST ELECTIONS BABUSH STACKED 500 CASES OF SIGNATURE WHISKEY EVEN BEFORE THE CODE OF CONDUCT. AS IF REDDY DOESN'T KNOW

  2. Exactly.  that  idiot ghanti doesnot know that beer companies charge Rs.5 to Rs. 7 as beer empty bottle deposit besides the MRP. Shame on him Reddy. He does not know these basic things. Nowhere in the country bottle deposit is charged.  Reddy does not even know that the MRP does not include the bottle deposit amount that he makes statements in the press. he owes an apology and a clarification  on the newspapers.

Secondly regarding MRP,  the  the profit margins on liquor is ridiculous. Rs. 3 or 4 on a bottle of say Rs. 150.  out of which 20 % have to be paid as VAT.  How can maunfacturers unilaterally fix MRP without taker the sellers into confidence.
Liqour is a restricted trade yet licences to open more outlets are rampantly given. Therefore  the lure of selling duplicate liquor for more profit is prevalent among a few traders who under sell at MRP.

  3. Reddy is piad in lakhs to fix such MRP with low margins and now he is fooling the Goan people that wholsalers are overscharging.
People will laugh if they actually know that Rs. 10 is the profit on selling a case of beer  for Rs. 520. the cost is actually 510  plus 70 Rs. Deposit and the MRP is RS. 47  printed on a bottle.
I think when Reddy made this statement to the reporters he himself was high.

  9. What is the mening of MRP? On garments the MRP is set so high  that a garment of china made costing Rs. 50 is sold for 700 to 800 rupees. It now in off seaon, when heavy discouts upto 60% are announced with costly advertments people realise what huge profits garment sellers make.
Many Foreign  countries don't have these MRP becasue they have realised   that it is useless.

  10.  MRP is a farce the giant manufacturers sometimes make upto 400 500% profits as maufaturing cost is shown inflated.  Wonder which goverment is responsible for fixing MRP. these guys must be making tons of cash inorder to fix the MRP of the manufacturers choice  leaving the sellers and resellers out of the decision.
