SARASWATI MANDAL’S LICENCE SUSPENDED

PANJIM: Food and drugs administration (FDA) has suspended the license of Saraswati Mahila Mandal and is waiting for a laboratory report to cancel the food license and take legal action against the self-help group, said FDA director Salim Veljee. The report is expected to be ready by next week. The self-help group Saraswati Mahila Mandal supplied meals to students in a Vasco school, who later fell ill.
''We are waiting for the report on the food sample which is sent to the FDA laboratory at Bambolim. After we receive the report we will initiate measures for cancellation of the food license and we will also file a prosecution case in the court,'' said Veljee. Veljee also clarified that FDA had never given a clean chit to Saraswati Mahila Mandal when a similar incident of food poisoning took place two years ago. "As we were not satisfied with the sanitation, services available in their kitchen, we had suspended their licenses for four months. After all deficiencies were rectified, we revoked our suspension,'' said Veljee.

  1. Saraswat's mandal's lizard delicacies  should be served for the Saraswat food festival. And the recipes should be shared.
