The Salgaocar Mining Industries authorities failed to remain present at the crucial meeting of the State Disaster Management Authority on Friday to discuss the tender issue and finalise the potential bidder to remove the River Princess by cutting it. The company management, however, sent a draft proposal to be considered by the authority.
Authorities of two other bidders, M/s Madgaonkar Salvage and M/s Titan Salvage, however, remained present and answered the eight questions raised by the authority, said the sources in the authority. The sources further said that points in the draft by SMI have been taken as response to the questions and would be placed before the full authority.
As the Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat, who is also the chairman of the SDMA, the Chief Secretary, Mr Sanjay Kumar Shrivastava and Calangute MLA, Mr Agnelo Fernandes, could not be present for the meeting another meeting would be held on Saturday afternoon to decide on the tender issue and finalise the successful bidder.
