The Macazana gram sabha held on Sunday witnessed some chaotic scenes with a gram sabha member even attempting to physically accost sarpanch and presiding officer, Mr Mariano De Costa.
However, matters did not get out of hand due to the intervention of some other gram sabha members and the police who spoke to the members after the issue were diffused asking them to maintain decorum.
Speaking to the media after the meeting the sarpanch said that the gram sabha member, Mr Constantino Souza charged at him over some issue of development but was held back by some members.
The issue flared up after the topic that there was no development being carried out in a ward represented by one of the panchas and him not allowing anybody to interfere and sort out people’s problems in that ward.
Another issue – of sale of kerosene – saw the gram sabha ask for a CBI inquiry into the sale as this dealer was not selling any of his quota in the village. The members sought to know as to where he was selling the restricted commodity. The inquiry was sought by that particular agency as the person concerned was an elected representative and a case is going on in court and an investigation whether he has been issued a fire NOC and an NOC by the panchayat.
The issue of migrants living in rented accommodations and their activities saw the gram sabha pass a resolution asking for action to be taken within seven days.
The gram sabha was upset over the fact that these migrants were apparently involved in anti-social behaviour and that the police was not taking cognisance of the locals’ complaints and wanted action taken against those who kept them on rent and warnings issued.
Another resolution taken was that the panchayat should not do any more work under the NREGA for ponds and its ancillary works. This decision was taken after the panchayat had done some work on some bandh but an association had claimed that they had done the work themselves. The panchayat clarified on that point and the gram sabha took the resolution.
Seems like all over Goa the Goan citizens are seeing the true potential of peoples power. In this article development is not being done, where is the money going? Then Migrants involved in anti-social behaviour, why are the Law enforcers not taking any action who are they? The innocent true Goans must stand up to those that do not carry out their duties with honesty. United Goans MUST Stand. God Bless Goa and Goans In It.
ReplyDeleteThis is a bad situation throughout Goa. The government should realise that the cause of all this is none other than himself (government). If the ministers stop filling their pockets with money and stop all the mega project activities everything will be alright. But nothing can be done where you have ANIMAL LIKE CHURCHILL ALEMAO, MICKKY PACHECO, RAVI NAIK, MONSERRATE & JOAQUIM ALEMAO who are ruffians and looters.
