As the elections are drawing nearer, the BJP has begun a campaign of exposing the congress led government in Goa. They held a meeting at Marcel in Priol which was attended by a crowd of about 200 people.
Though the meeting claimed to highlight the failure by the congress led government, the meeting was infact an election campaign by the BJP. In the meeting they asked the people to give them a mandate in the coming elections reminding them that the present government led by the Congress Party had failed to address the public grievances.
Adv Narendra Savoikar, who had contested the South Goa MP seat on the BJP ticket, said the government was forced to admit the problems only after public agitations. He also accused members in the government of being self-centered.
“This government is not bothered of the common man but is self-centered. They don’t care about the sufferings of the common man. It is only when people protest that they get up from their sleep. Do we need such a government?” asked Adv Savoikar.
Accusing the Congress-led government of corruption, State BJP President and MLA Laxmikant Parsekar said corruption will only stop if BJP comes to power.
“This government has failed and is overpowered by corruption. During the recent assembly sessions, we had 2,600 questions but only 68 came up for discussion during the question hour,” said Parsekar.
“The reason for this is best known to the people. The government had no answers to our questions. Just imagine if all 2,600 questions had come up for discussion. We exposed their corrupt practices and hence, the people should not vote for Congress and its allies in the forthcoming assembly polls,” Parsekar added. Opposition Leader Manohar Parrikar urged party members to spread awareness among voters of the present government’s failure. “It is we who are responsible for this mess. You need to elect a candidate of a good party and this time, voters need to be vigilant. Vote only for the party that can bring the change. BJP is capable and people have witnessed this during its rule in the State,” said Parrikar.
The Curchorem Block BJP unit organized a meeting at Sarvodaya High School Hall to expose rampant corruption of the Congress-led government and its failure to run the State. State BJP President Laxmikant Parsekar Fatorda MLA Damodar Naik, ex-ministers Prakash Velip and Vinay Tendulkar, Curchorem BJP chief Pradip Naik, CCMC Chairperson Maruti Naik, Councilors Devu Naik, Abhay Khandekar and Abhita Khandkar, Mahila wing president Prashila Naik and Curchorem youth president Kapish Sawant Dessai were present at the meeting.
In a scathing attack on the Congress-led government, Parsekar said corruption was deep rooted in the State government, which involved most ministers.
“The Congress government in the State is encouraging dynasty rule and the government is limited to a few families,” he said. MLA Damodar Naik, advocate Narendra Sawaikar, Prakash Velip, Maruti Naik and others also spoke at the meeting.
Very good BJP. Expose the Congress just like the Congress exposed you before the last elections and you bit the dust. Very little time left for the next elections. I have very poor opinion of politicians as a Class. As far as I am concerned, you are all "Career Politicians". Up for self-satisfaction, and not for the people of Goa. You all are people who make politics the source of your income. So keep on exposing each other.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering, how Goans can get rid of these parties (Congress, BJP, NCP)? Goan masses should be educated that these parties do not hold any good for future generation. Right now, people of Goa have no choice but to vote the same rogues. Is there any leader out there who can form a new party with a new name representing all three major religions (Hindu, Catholic, Muslim)and galvanise the Goan public and win the election with a majority mandate. It should not have any links with the national parties, DELHI or High Command as it is usually called.
ReplyDeleteThe Party's manifesto should be:
1.All the state jobs should be reserved for Goans only.
2.Only Konkani should be used as the sole official language.
3.Approve projects which benefits Goans only.
4.Preserve the unique character of Goan villages.
5.Immigrants who settle in Goa in the 70s should be considered as Goans.
6.Since Goa is geographically a small state natural land like, forest, lakes and hills should be preserved.
Is this possible? Can Goa be ruled by Goans for the first time?
Da Silva... I feel this is the only time that real Niz Goenkars can come forward and sit for the elections to rule Goa. The current rulers are also Goenkars but the word "Niz" doesn't precede their title. They thought by shutting Herald down, they would win, but Alas!. Our "Niz Goenkar" appeared at the crucial time, so let us all Niz Goenkars support "Niz Goenakar". Menino...., the task you have undertaken for a noble cause should not go wasted and I, for one, am with you 'Come What May'.
ReplyDeleteViva Niz Goenkar and Viva all true Niz Goenkars.
Expose! Expose!! Expose!!! This Exposition will be ongoing every five years if we let them continue.
