THREE CAUGHT DUMPING WASTE IN BENAULIM WATER BODY

MARGAO: On Wednesday the people of Benaulim apprehended some people, allegedly from the neighbouring village, dumping some garbage in a lake. Later the people stopped the Colva sarpanch who was passing by, and warned her that if this happened again, then they would dump the garbage at their panchayat.
The Benaulim sarpanch, Ms Carmeline Fernandes, giving details of the garbage dumping said that three migrants allegedly from Colva were found dumping garbage into a water body. She further said that these migrants disclosed that they are from Colva and that the garbage is also from Colva, and they added that the water body at ‘Tolleband’ is the place they usually dispose of the garbage.
She said previously, she has written to the Colva panchayat in this matter, however, the Colva panchayat has not acted in the matter. She also said that the Colva police too have been indifferent in this respect.
The sarpanch said that the panchayat has now decided to write to the High Court regarding such mischief. The sarpanch appealed to law enforcing authorities, particularly the police to take stern action against such persons, who are found throwing garbage in the water bodies of Benaulim village.

  1. The people of Benaulim seem to be doing a great Job in catching garbage dumpers. One has to imagine the once tasty fresh fish of Tolleband now being contaminated. Goa does not have proper infrastructure and yet the mega projects and truism continues to grow. Benaulimcars Dump the Garbage at the door steps of our ministers.
