SCHEMES DESIGN KEEPING IN MIND NEEDS OF COMMON MEN

VALPOI: Stressing on various schemes implemented by state government, Minister for Women and Child development (WCD), Mr Ravi Naik said that there are various schemes designed by the Goa government keeping in mind the needs of common men.

Mr Naik was speaking at function for distribution of Sarees and Dress material under Vastra Bhet scheme and cheques under Kanyadan scheme organised by directorate of Women and Child development at Laxmibai memorial hall, Valpoi. Around 69 beneficiaries under Kanyadan scheme were distributed cheques amounting Rs1035000 while 3090 recipient were given dress material and sarees under Vastra Bhet scheme from Sattari taluka. Other dignitaries present on the dais were speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly, Mr Pratapsing Rane, VMC Chairperson, Mr Umesh Gulelkar, Director of WCD, Mr Sanjiv Gadkar and Block CDPO, Ms Naina Priorlker.
Highlighting further the importance of education Mr Naik said, “Women especially from less privileged classes should come forward and educate themselves then only our future generation will live secured life”. He also explained about Shika, Shivka and Kamva scheme of the Directorate of Women and Child Welfare and urged women to avail the benefit of such schemes and at the same time earn money too. He also informed that around 290 courses are available under this scheme wherein women of any age can take advantage and can be self reliant.
Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly, Mr Pratapsing Rane praising the efforts of Mr Ravi Naik said, Mr Naik is keen interest and through this department he is bringing up schemes which are helpful for boosting women.
He urged parents to educate their girl child and remarked that in every section of society girls are ahead of boys. He also appeals to state government to revise some old act related to women which are practice since Portuguese regime. However, he did not mention specifically the acts. Mr Sanjiv Gadkar welcomed the gathering while Ms Naina Priorlker proposed vote of thanks.
