PANJIM: The eyewitness who saw custodial death victim Cipriano Fernandes being kicked by police personnel at Panjim police station on the fateful day, on Saturday said he is getting threatening calls on his mobile and is being offered Rs 50 lakh for his silence.
Chicalim-based businessman Kenneth Silveira, who was summoned to the Panjim police station on a "false complaint and kept in illegal detention" by Panjim police on January 8, 2011, told a press conference that since January 10, a male caller has been calling him from landline number (0832) 3268775 and threatening him not to speak out on what he saw at the police station that day.
Silveira said he was at the Panjim police station since morning and between 10.45 am to 12.45 pm on January 8, he saw Cipriano lying motionless in an inner room of the police station. He said froth was coming out of Cipriano's mouth "like that of a corpse" and at one point, he saw a police sub-inspector and later Panjim police inspector Sandesh Chodankar kicking Cipriano. Later, the cops took Cipriano away, Silveira said.
He said he has been receiving threatening calls from a male caller who "has a commanding voice like that of a minister's personal assistant." When Silveira tried calling that number, no one answers the phone. He has now lodged a police complaint against the unknown caller.
Silveira spoke to the media at a press conference called by Benaulim NCP MLA Francisco Mickky Pacheco who claimed that there is a collapse in the law and order situation in Goa because of the incompetence of home minister Ravi Naik and the complicity of the government. (TNN)
50 lakhs is a high price to pay for silence in Goa. Is it dirty money or dirty politics from NCP camp? It sounds more like political publicity. Without any doubt Cipriano's death in police custody was not natural.
ReplyDeleteThe Phone Number has been presented to the press on which the threat call/ bribe was made to silence the truth, so why is the investigation team not getting to the bottom of it. How does this get justified? Does Silveira deserve any police protection for being a witness to this heinous crime? Why cannot the source of this number be tracked?I am sure months ago Digamber Cunt had made a statement in the press that the police has a system in place to monitor several thousand phone lines in view of the drug scandal that had rocked Goa. So what has happened to this tracking Radar of of this department? Secondly if Lyndon Monteiro has made the statement of a cabinet Minister puting presure on the GMC Dr to alter the PM report why is this remark not acted upon? How much is the govt trying to fool the people, how much more are they trying to cover their crimes.

To Kenneth Silveira, well done in giving the statements to the media on the true picture, Do not bow down to the 50 lakhs,do not get influenced under pressure like that Female EVIL friend of Cipriano who has been the cause of this current situation and who has changed her statements. That type of money has no blessing on it, rather a curse upon it. We are all with you.Keep the fight for cipriano to get due justice he rightly deserves going.
