PONDA: Nayabu Mastan Saab, 55, a resident of Sundara Charlu in Andhra Pradesh, committed suicide by hanging himself from a wooden rafter in the staff quarters allotted to his wife in a private farm at Collem on Sunday afternoon. His wife is working for a private farm in Asaiwada Shigao in Collem and the man had come down to Goa to meet her.
Collem police inspector Manoj Mardolkar said that the man had committed suicide under the influence of liquor. Police said that the man had taken some money from his wife and drank liquor.
At around 1 pm, the owner of the farm Prakash Desai found Nayabu hanging from the RCC sheets' roof. He immediately informed his wife, some other staff and summoned the EMRI ambulance. His wife and other staff members removed him from the roof. However, the EMRI ambulance attendant declared him dead.
Police have recovered the body and preserved it in the morgue of Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim for an autopsy to be conducted on Monday. Collem police have registered the case as an "Unnatural Death" under Section 174 of Criminal Procedure Code .
