NEW TENDER TO REMOVE RIVER PRINCESS

PANJIM: The State Disaster Management Authority on Monday decided to float a fresh tender for removal of the ill-fated vessel, River Princess, the ninth one since the vessel ran aground in June 2000.
The decision to float the fresh tender was taken at a meeting of the SDMA chaired by the Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat at the state Secretariat on Monday afternoon. The SDMA also considered the draft of the fresh tender and some changes were suggested to it by the members.
The tender is expected to be issued over the next two days and the firms engaged in salvaging would be given 14 days time to enter the bidding process. The Chief Minister said the legal experts along with the officials of the law department would work out the fresh tender and it would be issued after taking approval of the experts.
The government had to scrap the last tender after the legal experts pointed out anomalies in the process and two of the bidders who were allowed to enter the tender process by the Bombay High Court “refused” to accept the conditions imposed by the government. The High Court had given two months time for the government to award the contract and ensure that the vessel was removed before the onset on next monsoon. (NT)

  1. This princess of death. will be there for our great grand children to see. It will part of the History lesson in school, as to how our corrupt and incompetent government let us all down by playing sea saw. Hopefully before our Goans will unite and find a solution to run the state with honesty.
Can somebody please write a nursery rhyme on this Princess.
