YET ANOTHER POLICE RELATED DRUGS CASE HANDED TO THE CRIME BRANCH

PANJIM:  Even as the Crime Branch has failed exceptionally in solving the police-drug mafia nexus case handed over to them 10 months back, the Goa Police on Wednesday handed over yet another case of a police official selling drugs to two foreigners to the agency for a “thorough inquiry”.
A video-footage telecast on a local news channel showed former Anti Narcotics Cell police sub inspector Sunil Gudlar allegedly negotiating over a small packet with two women in a hotel room at an undisclosed destination. The identity of the two women has not been revealed.
Addressing a press conference, police spokesperson SP Atmaram Deshpande told reporters that the headquarters decided to hand over the probe to Superintendent of Police (Crime Branch) Mangaldas Desai.
However, no action has been initiated against the PSI. Deshpande said that if the local channel or any other media can provide the police more clippings then further action can be initiated.
“Crime Branch will probe into the matter. The tapes show some kind of involvement of PSI Gudlar but all details will be taken into account during the inquiry,” he said.
Goa ANC earned bad reputation after its former inspector Ashish Shirodkar was named by Israeli drug peddler Yaniv Benaim alias Atala as his supplier of drugs. Following this expose by Atala’s former girlfriend Lucky Amori Farmhouse, seven policemen were suspended and arrested for corruption and conspiracy.
When questioned whether the fresh expose is linked to earlier police-drug mafia nexus, Deshpande replied that the inquiry will reveal facts. “It is premature to say whether the fresh revelations have any links with earlier nexus. The inquiry will reveal everything,” he said. It has been learnt that the sting was carried out by an outside party some four months back, footage of which was shared with the local news channel.
Police have also not ruled out interrogation of former Superintendent of Police (ANC) Veenu Bansal in this case as Gudlar was working under his commands.
IPS officer Bansal was recently shunted to Arunachal Pradesh while Gudlar during the same period was transferred to Security. His relieving order is however not confirmed. Deshpande said that he was probably given relieving order from the ANC to join Security on Wednesday.
Ironically, Gudlar last year was awarded a certificate by Director General of Police B S Bassi for nabbing Israeli drug baron David Driham alias Dudu with several kilograms of narcotics in February 2010.
He had also arrested Shirodkar after his links with Atala was exposed by media in March 2010. The PSI recently charge sheeted Dudu before the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Court at Mapusa.
However, the Goa police’s move has raised eyebrows as it is an open secret that the Crime branch has messed up with the police-politician-drug mafia case. The Israeli accused Atala has gone missing ever since he was granted bail by the court and the Crime Branch has failed to trace him despite claims that he has fled to Israel.

  2. We can expect another award for deliberately bungling the investigation in this case of this PSI by Chandrakant Salgaonkar the filthy animal of the police department. I really do not know who made this filthy animal chandrakant salgaonkar a DSP in the first place. Pilot Ravi Naik will be very anxious now, hoping that his son's Roy's business may not fall down due to the arrest of this PSI. It also has to be sure and I am myself sure that this PSI is working under Roy Pilot Naik.
