CUNCOLIM: The Shabu B Desai Memorial Committee will unveil a statue of the late leader of Opinion poll Shabu B Desai who was at the core of the1967 issue in Cuncolim. The event, 'Hero of Opinion Poll 1967' will be inaugurated by speaker Pratapsingh Rane on January 19 at 5pm at the old bus stand.
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) will celebrate the 44th anniversary of 'Opinion Poll Day' at a public function at the Batim village panchayat hall. It will felicitate leaders who contributed towards the success of the opinion poll.
Konkani Songit Somajik Kala Kendra, Taleigao, along with members of the Sequeira family, will commemorate the 44th anniversary of the Opinion Poll on Sunday at 4.30pm at the statue of Dr Jack de Sequeira at the NIO circle, Dona Paula.
There are many forgotten heroes of the opinion poll 1967. There was one called "Hitler de Concolim" who was more instrumental in making speeches all over south Goa who died " NOT A RICH MAN". He was a well educated person who translated many documents From Portuguese to English He was one of the strongest members of "United Goans" lived in New Market Margao side of La Marine restaurant. The Poor who fought for the cause should be remembered too.
