PANJIM: The former tourism minister, Mr Francisco Pacheco on Monday said that the charge-sheet filed against him by the Crime Branch in the threatening case reported at Majorda in 2009, is an attempt to prevent his entry into the state cabinet.
Mr Pacheco also fired a salvo at the Home Minister, Mr Ravi Naik demanding his resignation on moral grounds in the wake of the expose on police-drug peddlers’ nexus and other law and order problems occurring in the state.
Addressing a press conference late on Monday evening after being chargesheeted in the 1998 threatening case, Mr Pacheco said that the charge sheet is a mere attempt to divert the attention from the core issues of concern including the drugs issue involving policemen, bureaucrats and politicians.
Mr Pacheco questioned objections to his entry into the cabinet on moral grounds claiming that other tainted ministers also constitute the cabinet. On the drugs issue, he said that it is very shameful that a police constable from the constituency of the Chief Minister was arrested in Belgaum while dealing in drugs. He said that the police involvement is just the tip of the iceberg and that the policemen are not acting without the blessings of the bureaucrats and ministers.
Speaking on Cipriano’s death, Mr Pacheco demanded immediate dismissal of all the police personnel involved in the case. He said "Cipriano was ‘killed’ by the police and action has to be taken against them."
On the issue of the notice by the speaker on the NCP legislature party chief, he said that he may not be able to attend the meeting as he is scheduled for a foreign trip.
Meanwhile, the entire executive committee of the Nationalist Congress Party was also present at the press briefing. Speaking on the occasion, the party’s state president said that the Congress party is not adhering to the mantra of coalition government and said that Mr Pacheco should be inducted in the ministry immediately by dropping Mr Jose Philip D’Souza and Mr Nilkanth Halarnkar.
He said that the matter will be taken to the party high command even as the high commands of the two parties are scheduled to meet in the next few days. He also said that besides other issues, the party will press for the resignation of Mr Naik. (NT)

We see in UK so many ministers resign and never turn back even if they are innocent of the scandal they are accused of but our UNEDUCATED shameless politicians like Mickky Pacheco, Ravi Naik still like to cling on to power. Anyone in the western countries would have resigned were they in the place of Ravi Naik. And the other dolt Mickky wants to come back when he is caught in adultery, polygamy etc. UNBELIEVABLE!
