A SECOND AIRPORT IS REQUIRED FOR GOA SAYS SHANTARAM NAIK

VASCO: The Rajya Sabha MP, Mr Shantaram Naik, on Sunday stated that Goa will eventually need another airport, due to its wide network and the rapid growth in the traffic.
While addressing the media on Sunday after attending a function at Islampura, Baina, Mr Naik reiterated that the land which is proposed for the expansion of Dabolim airport belongs to the state government which has been occupied by the Indian Navy. He has alleged that the Indian Navy is solely responsible for the delay in commissioning the work of the expansion of Dabolim airport.
Mr Naik was of the opinion that the state of Goa is much required two airports in order to cater to the needs of domestic and international tourists as well as the people of Goa. He informed that Goa has been a famous tourist spot in the world and due to which the state has witnessed rapid growth in the arrival of tourists.
Mr Naik mentioned that the lone airport in Goa at Dabolim, although in under expansion phase, would not meet the requirements of the air traffic which would double in the next few years. Since, various airline companies and chartered flight operators have shown keen interest in expanding their services, Mr Naik has aspired the need of having one more airport to avoid the air traffic congestion.
While speaking on the nomination issue of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee presidentship, Mr Naik told that it is up to the AICC president, Ms Sonia Gandhi to announce the president and Congressmen in the state will abide by her decision.

  1. Goa does not need the increase of air traffic it is a very small state, its citizen’s wishes must be respected. Goa does not need tourism too; it needs new and honest ministers in the government. It is time the Navy vacate Dabolim’s civilian airport.

  2. Well said Diogo!.....we are destroying OUR Goa with this so called 'tourism'. We are not a 'disneyland', we a land of farmers, fisherman and ordinary people who want to preserve our way of life. We don't need this bullsh_T talk that will destroy us! This bastard must have bought some stock in the new airport. 'Tourism' can be done, but not with the expense of destroying us. For a corrupt India it cannot be done in its current form. It is going to destroy us!

  4. This can be a new idea Mr. Shentaram! Propose one in Canacona since it will be useful after the merger of Karwar with Goa. Propose this to Chorchill. Mopa will cater to Maharashtra and the one in Canacona can cater to people of Bhatkal via Goan Karwar when it will be no more part of Karnataka. The siblings of Valanka will have a place in Karwar to contest elections as first infidels from Varca to win the Karwar seat.

  5. Goa is identified by" TWO". Firt we had two leaves which saved Goa from Merger with Maharashtra. But recently we have two bridges over Mandovi, May be two over Zuari and two airports all due to corruption with the politicans. I wonder when we will have two chief ministers.

Dalia, from where do you get your words and sentences? I just cannot stop laughing reading the word "Infidels" from Varca. I also liked what you wrote in Aires interview. Hope many Goans will get their minds stirring up by reading comments and articles on Niz Goenkar. Much appreciation to Bebdo, N. Fernandes and all of you Niz Goenkars.

  7. Now Goa is also identified for two things - CORRUPT POLITICIANS and CORRUPT POLICE. We have TWO Alemaos, TWO Dhavalikars and TWO Ranes as Chors in the Goa cabinet.

In the Police Force, we have TWO DALVI brothers and TWO ALBUQUERUE brothers too.
