RAVI NAIK SAYS SIT PROBE WILL UNEARTH TRUTH OF POLICE-DRUG DEALER NEXUS

PANJIM: The Home Minister, Mr Ravi Naik has said that a thorough probe by the special investigating team would help in getting to the root of the alleged involvement of police officials with the drug dealers.  The Home Minister also said that that the inquiry would also reveal whether drugs in possession of the Anti-Narcotics Cell was pilfered and supplied to drug dealers by the staff attached to the cell.
Mr Naik said that the inquiry would further help reveal whether there was any involvement of senior police officials and based on its findings the government would initiate steps to cleanse the "system." The government would further take steps to provide better policing and restore faith of the people in the force.
Meanwhile, highly placed sources in the state administration said that the role of sister of David Dirham alias Dudu and his girlfriend, who have been shown accepting packets of drug from Gudlar in the video, would also have to be probed thoroughly and action would have to be taken against them under NDPS Act, if they were found accepting packets of drugs.
The sources further said that it was widely believed that the suspended police sub-inspector, Sunil Gudlar was a tool used by his senior, Mr Veenu Bansal to not only frame other ANC officials who were subsequently arrested and suspended but also to pilfer the drugs. These drugs were passed on to the dealers and blame for their disappearance was laid on former officials.
The state administration officials also stated that it appeared that the drug allegedly handed over to the sister of Dudu in the video was probably from the godown of the ANC even as they went on to add as to how could the actions of the suspended PSI remain hidden from his superior. They also said that the former in-charge of the ANC should also be questioned in the matter to ascertain his role in the entire episode and find out whether he was a voluntary party to the "wrong" doings.
